I don't think anyone outside of beckam this year at the combine is going to blow people away with their times. These guys just aren't track fast like this event calls for.
They're football players and football fast

I don't remember Jeremy hill getting caught from behind a whole lot in the open field

I do remember Landry being one of the first downfield on special teams and making huge tackles

I do remember copeland blowing people up on a nightly basis

People put way too much stock in 40 times.

We spend all year criticizing and laughing at programs like Oregon who recruit track stars instead of football players, then the combine comes and the football players don't run near as fast 40s as the track stars and all of a sudden the table flips. It's so stupid

Hill ran a good time for his size

Did he fumble or get flagged before he crossed the tape ?

All true, but the NFL guys aren't going to watch tape of every LSU game for every player. They go largely on numbers and "check boxes"

The Williams RB from BC had a 38" vertical and is 230lbs.

Jarvis had a 28.5" vert and was a tenth slower in the 40.

I think he'll be a late 2nd or early 3rd. Prolly the latter.

Jarvis is legitimately hurt and had to be forced (strongly encouraged)to leave the field

so then he can make up for it at the pro day.

You're defending his 40 time in this thread. If that is his true 40 time and vert, I'm not sure he'll go before the 4th round

I always felt Hill would go in the third round.

I hope every organization besides the saints think like you so that they get him later in the draft. Fact is, I'll be shocked if he goes 3rd round, much less late in the round.

I am saying I don't expect anyone outside of Odell to "win" the combine ( and he did very well)

Jarvis will get healed up and run high 4.5 at lsu
He's 3-4 round grade and will be a great pro

I think he'll run much better at the pro day. There is no way his vertical is that bad.

If he was hurt though, he shouldn't have competed.

Those numbers crush him if they hold up

Do you really think that the NFL talent evaluators use just "numbers and check boxes" when they are drafting.

You really think they don't watch nearly all the available game tape on prospective draftees they are interested in?

If this is truly your belief you don't know much about the selection process.

the Saints use these rules for a competitive advantage. Saints and Patriots employee the most scouts in the NFL

From what Mayock said, they look at game tape of their positions and get a "typical" idea from ST tape. I'm saying that b/c Landry made plays all over the field doesn't discount the numbers they have. If they have 3 players in mind and one's numbers aren't where they should be, they are likely to pass. Generally.

40 times are a was. of time. It tries to measure how WR will break away and that is it. or at least how I see it. Who the eff cares if a QB can run a 4.5/40. The RB's and DB's are the 2 groups of players that I think benefit most from the 40. How quick can you get down field and how do you match up to WR's
