I am pretty sure there are no water pipes where our fridge is located but I was hoping to hook the ice maker up. I can see the water line under the house. Can I just tap into that?

Go to walmart and get one of the water maker kits in plumbing section and follow directions. Very simple and comes with 25ft hose. you can connect it to cold water supply under sink

Where is the fridge, relative to sink? Can you drill through the side of the cabinets?

You could stub up from the line under the house and install a cutoff valve, but working from the sink might be easier.

It's across the kitchen from the sink

If the fridge is on the same wall as the sink, drill through the sides of the cabinets and run a line to the cold water shut off for the sink. You'll have to change the shut off valve to one that has both the 3/8" inlet for the faucet and a 1/4" inlet for the ice maker. If not you'll need to stub up through the floor to tap into the line underneath. Make sure you put a shut off valve.

Well in that case, you need to find out the size and material of the line under the house and go to Lowe's and get a "T" to put on that line. Then come up through the floor with a piece of 1/2" pipe with a shutoff valve on the end with a 1/4" inlet.

Just go to Lowe's, hit the button that say's need help, wait 15 minutes for help, go to the front and get the manager, wait 10 minutes for the manager, tell the manager nobody has helped you yet, wait for the guy that works in flooring and knows nothing about plumbing to come and help you, then go to Home Depot to get the 2 pieces out of 8 that Lowe's was out of stock on. You should be set up then.

You can go through the floor behind the fridge, but that's kind of halfass and the copper line can be damaged if the refrigerator is pushed too close to the wall. Cut the Sheetrock and drill through the bottom plate between the studs. There are kits available that finish flush with the wall. They look much neater and won't get damaged. If you go that route, a ball valve (quarter turn) might be easier to open/close than a gate valve (like on the supply line behind the commode or under the sink).

Good luck. Icemakers rule!

Whatever you do, don't under any circumstances, overtighten the fittings. Hand tight only.

Ask me how I know.

Plumbers as a rule don't like running the small tubing under the house because of the freeze factor. In your set up though, anything else will get involved.

get that kit and tie into the sink's water supply. drill holes through the cabinets and tie into the fridge with the soft line that is supplied in kit.

I would think it'll work like your dish washer unit. Just run a line from the water feed on your Sink.
