Game means nothing. Correct move

Meh, he threw 87 pitches, but he got through the last inning in 6 pitches. If he goes back out there throws 6-8 more pitches, it really doesn't make much of a difference. The only problem is that it is tough to pull him after 8 with a no-no. The snowball effect is why you make the move now IMO.

10-20 pitches isn't a big deal. I would have left him in.

Nothing to prove with big lead...

And thus CPM continues to show moronic game management. For all the flack people like to give Les for game management, CPM is epically worse.

I would of at least let him come to the mound for a batter to get standing ovation.

Its a long season
This. He wouldn't have done that against an SEC opponent with less than 90 pitches through 7. There's just no need for him to go on extra long outings this early in the season when you are up 9-0.

I wouldn't have minded this.

I beg to differ. That attitude is how a guy throws 115 pitches before you know it.
Suppose he gets out of the 8th with a no-no and 97 pitches. Now what? If you weren't going to pull him in the 7th, how do you do it now?
If you're going to do it, the 7th is the spot. The pitch count is respectable and it is a much easier decision.

You gonna make that determinTion without knowing the reason he was pulled?
