I seen a video the other day of my friend shooting a suppressed 22cal and it seemed to be quiet as hell. He said basically all you could hear was the slide reloading that it was that quiet. Is there any truth to this? I know there is paperwork involved w fed stamp... just curious of how quiet the things actually are.

I've fired a suppressed .22 and could only hear the action. May pick one up for the fun of it.

If I got into shooting hogs or dogs or something like that I would consider it but for shits and giggles prolly not. I'm way to scatterbrained to wait 18 months for a toy

They aren't Hollywood quiet, caliber that break the speed of sound are still quite loud.

My dad made one years ago out of materials you could get at your local hardware store. It actually worked quite well on a .22 lr rifle. But the baffles (steel wool) stayed so freaking dirty. After he passed away I was never able to find it.

These days I don't have much use for one. But it was pretty cool to see it in action.

I have one for my 300 Blackout. I would say without the suppressor it sounds like a cannon, with it, it sounds about like a 17 HMR.

It just takes the edge off. Works a lot better when you aren't breaking the sound barrier because you don't have the sonic crack and the suppressor muffles that initial blast.
