A Great Horned Owl?

Dang thing came in within 5 minutes of calling. Looking down into a draw and saw the red eyes coming at me from 200 yds. Seemed strange they werent bouncing like a yote should though. Eyes stopped for a couple seconds then came in to within 75 yds whereupon I lost them. Next thing I know the biggest Great Horned owl I've ever seen alights in a cedar 10 ft from the call. He would not be denied the critter shaker there and stayed for 10 minutes despite hand waving, rock throwing etc. SOB wanted that critter in the worst way!!! Finally gave in and walked up to turn it off.
Love seeing them but could have done w/o the distraction. Oh well ,maybe he was runnin interference for Wile-E.

F an owl. Went get a card out of my camera one night this season about 11:30, and one damn near picks my hat off my head. I'm sure if someone would have been videoing my reaction that it would have been good for a few laughs

Man you should have hung in there I was calling one evening and three of them lighted in trees around me and my son. They were raising hell and were on the verge of making me get up and leave cause of the noise when Mr coyote came in. I guess because of the presence of the owls he came in with reckless abandon but it didn't end well for him

Many years ago my cousin was predator hunting; he was leaning onto the back of the cab, using the top for a gun rest. He was using a mouth blown call. He suddenly had an odd feeling so ducked down, just in town to avoid being "caught" by a large owl. He went home and promptly retired that varmint call.

Owls are badass. One of my favorite birds.

LOL. It wasnt him being right there that bugged me as much as the intensity in the way he was staring at my brand new critter wiggler.
All I could see was that SOB hitting it n tearing it to pieces or worse flying off with my brand new $40 worth of chit.

Remember reading an article in Outdoor Life many years ago about hunters and trappers that were found dead in the woods - all had broken necks and had been wearing hear covers that we're made from animal pelts. The bottom line was they had been hit by owls and the force of impact had caused the fatality.
