But Brown says he was turned away from the River Side Inn Marina in Channelview Wednesday when he tried to grab a burger with his best friend and Truman by his side. He says he told the waitress that Truman was a service dog, but she went to talk to her manager.

"This guy comes out from the back, from across the bar, very loudly calls out, 'Can you see?'" said Brown.

Looks like a pretty upscale joint, not sure what all the fuss is about.

Wait, this guy walks around with a dog to help cope with PTSD?

I'll choose to believe you honestly aren't informed.
THe answer is yes. Therapy dogs are quite common and quite effective in treating PTSD episodes. My dog has not only been my unwavering 'buddy' for 6 years but he has been my rock at certain times throughout those 6 years. Make fun if you wish...but they are man's best friend for a reason.

I still don't know how I feel about that. To me while a service dog, it's not a down right necessity like a blind person's dog.

How do we know Brown wasn't just a complete a-hole to the waitress?

Doesn't matter how you feel about it, it's against federal law to ask about why it's needed. You are only allowed to make them leave if the dog causes a disturbance or becomes a threat.

How are we supposed to know that it is a service dog?

It's against federal and state law to ask a person about their disability -- or to deny someone service because of a service dog. Ole boy will be lucky if he's not sued.

I am pretty sure those dogs can go absolutely anywhere if they are registered as such.

You can ask if it is a service dog, that is it. You aren't allowed to ask for documentation or what requires the use of it. Basically, it's impossible to know if a person is lying. So you have to just let them in, you can kick them out if the dog causes disruption or is a threat.
