I thought 8 was bad, damn. The first 4 weeks wasn't too bad, the last two weeks were A LOT of trouble...

They do a number on my shed. It took a few months to get it back to normal last time.

Not sure if this helps....
Previous discussion
Not really.
I am a little interested in all seriousness. Can you email me just some general info on pricing, how they act, what type of person would be a good owner of one. Send it to prostyleoffensetime@gmail.com and if I'm interested I'll email you back with my real email.

One of the most energetic breeds, the German Shorthaired Pointer is a hunting dog by nature. Protective, clever, eager and willing to please, it is very fond of its human family. Happy-go-lucky, it loves nothing more than to engage in some type of constructive activity with its owners such as a long walk, jog, hike, hunt, or a game of Frisbee. This breed is not suited to life in a kennel. Faithful, spirited and friendly, it likes and mixes well with children. Dominancy and energy levels vary slightly from puppy to puppy even within the same litter, however those bred for working in high-performance field competitions usually require more activity than the average Shorthair, but are all still very high energy dogs who need a lot of daily exercise. Best suited for an active family. When they lack in exercise they can become high strung and frustrated. The GSP will not listen if it senses that it is stronger minded than its owner, however it will also not respond well to harsh discipline. The GSP needs an owner who displays a natural air of authority providing firm, but calm, confident and consistent with rules it must be made to follow. The GSP crave order and need structure in its life. If this breed lacks in either exercise or leadership it can develop separation anxiety and possibly become destructive and nervous. Well adjusted, stable minded GSPs who receive enough mental and physical activity along with a balance of consistent leadership will get along with other dogs and cats. This breed likes to bark and can be reserved with strangers. Socialize well. They will be in their glory if they are actually used for what they were bred for and taken on hunting trips.
Hope that helps.

Thanks. That helps a lot. I bet one would be great to go to the farm and spend the day with me... My problem is that I live like right on the highway and I don't have a fence. On days it couldn't go with me, I'd have to put him in a pen. I'd hate to do that to one too much, and I'd really hate for him to dig out or something and get killed in the highway. Definitely going to think about it for a couple days.

Check salty cajun. I had no idea what that was but within 2 days, I found a good lab.

I own one. My father-in-law is a breeder.
I would NOT get one if you don't have a house with a decent-sized fenced yard. In a perfect world, they'd all live on acerage in the country. These dogs have INSANE energy. They HAVE to be exercised. They are intelligent, extremely, extremely curious (like little investigators) and well-known escape artists.
The uspides are their strong desire to be part of the family, their limitless energy (PERFECT running partner), their beauty (really good-looking dogs) the short coat, moderate shedding, medium size (not as big as a lab and don't get fat like labs do) easy to house-train, and if you are a hunter - natural instincts. They point as 2 month olds. Webbed feet like a retriver. They're funny personalities too - I don't know if I'd say they are sweet (they certainly aren't mean by any means) although they are sweet at times, they are mostly both sassy and clownish.
The downsides are the limitless energy and the fact that you can't catch 'em if they get out. Waaaaay too fast and strong. Will get destructive if penned up too much.

Thanks. I'm not planning on living where I currently live much longer to be honest. Hopefully gone within a year... I manage a 3600 acre farm and I'm there at least 4-6 days a week from February to December. He'll have plenty of time to exercise.
