Posted this awhile back but no one seems to have it. However knowing some of the vets here I have to think it can be found. For you youngsters, LSU beat Tulane, but game was "called" with about a minute left after massive brawal broke out. My memory is hazy on it but think Eric Martin may have been the center of attention (odd for a quiet guy, but would not ever want to anger him either). People who were there tell me that this fight made FSU 1990 fight look like an epsiode of Barney.. Anyway, video?

It was Richard Williams of Tulane, he was a defensive lineman and Curtis Gore of LSU he was an offensive lineman. Gore was dating William's old girlfriend from high school. I was at the game and remember Williams took off his helmet when the fight broke out. I think this thing was brewing all week prior to the game. If think one of the offensive tackles at LSU kicked Williams in the butt and all hell broke loose!

I was at that game and remember at least one of the local Baton Rouge news stations had some footage of it. Maybe you can check their sites.

no, 1982 game was as far as I know the biggest upset loss in LSU history, we were 26-7 point favorite vs a bad tulane team and our D (which was awesome all year) could not stop them. Rumors (urban legned stuff) that LSU players threw the game etc. and P Jenkins was behind it..bottom line, we (as was a major issue with Stovall coached teams) coming off a maasive win over FSU and the team just flat overlooked an inpsired, but very undermanned Tulane team. If anyone knows of any bigger upset in LSU history, please post info on it. For example, Miama Ohio game in 1986 we were 20 point favorites, when we beat Bama in 1993 they were 26 point favorites on us. The 1982 was a BAD loss.

It was 1984. Tulane was too busy celebrating its third win in 4 years over LSU at the end of the game in 1982.

Think about the possibilities of '86. HUGE upset loss to M of O and a 2 point loss to Ole Miss...where we missed a 24 yard chip shot to win. That close to 11-0. Anyway, I remember the '84 Tulane game (original Tigervision broadcast). That brawl was epic. I recall seeing locker room footage on the news later that night where Tulane players were breaking shite over their heads as if to be bragging in a manner like "I did THIS to that one guy!!! I remember my dad laughing his arse off in a "are u kidding me??!!" manner. Good times

People have been looking for video of this fight since I joined TD.com in 2007. Someone has to have a video of this. We should keep this thread bumped until someone comes up with the goods.

The old score board back then had a lit up strip where it would give a gist of the last play.

I remember it said, "TULANE SHOWS IT'S CLASS"

during the fight. haha.

Three wins in four years, and this year makes three wins in forty years.

I had it recorded from WWL sports back then... Maybe you can check with the station in New Orleans about it... I was at the game and recorded it on a VHS tape the next day and no telling where the hell that tape is today!.. Hail Shawn Burks!.. Remember him flattening 2 greenies in the south end zone!...

Was on the sidelines that night and remember at one point at State Trooper trying to get in the middle of the fight to break things up, got pushed down and walked away.

I miss the rivalry with The Slime. Back then the two teams hated each other and was rivaled only by how much the two fanbases hated each other.

Bring back the Hate!

Would rather see TU and USL on the schedule than all those god awful out of state non-conference "Sisters of the Poor" Institutions. Both The Slime and the Ramblin Acadians of LOU ISI ANA aren't as bad as they used to be.

I was at the game. I remember Coach Arnsbarger clearing the bench with a wave of his hand. It was at the end of the game after an Eric Martin touchdown and they ended up suspending the game with time left on the clock. Also remember law enforcement on field breaking up the fight. One of the LSU players left the field carrying a Greenie helmet raised above his head.

We got screwed by the LSU-friendly refs in 1990 and you didn't play us in 1998.
