I am currently doing this. I basically made up the rules, but I know people do this sometimes.

I turned it off on Sunday and will turn it back on this coming Sunday. I made sure I had a relatively easy week of work ahead and no big plans I needed my phone for.

It has been wonderful. I had gotten in the Ari Gold habit of holding onto it at all times and always looking at it even when I'm with people in person. I'm getting married in October and was also getting lit up about wedding shite too much. I hate being so reachable allllll the time.

I suggest you kids try this. Been wonderful. I still am reachable via email, but without my phone I really only check it at work.

But I don't have a home phone, just the cell. What then?

If my phone doesn't ring, then I'm not making bling.

Good luck though.

Yeah I couldn't do this. I have to have my phone on for work so I can be notified if I'm working or not at my second job.

I lost my phone once. I went a good 2-3 weeks before the woman made me replace it.

I enjoyed that time a great deal.

I did this when I went to New Zealand. 10 days without a cell phone. Frickin awesome.

Although...I told people not to call me unless someone died. When i checked my voice mail messages after about 1 week...my friend's mother had died.

Nope, thank fricking god

I live with my fiance so if there was an emergency people could get ahold of me if absolutely necessary.

It feels fricking great. Humans have lived thousands of years without being instantly reachable 24 hours a day.

At first it was more stressful, but now I've settled into it and its very, very relaxing. Gotten so much done around the house and at work.

My phone was down for 4 days and I don't have a backup. After the first 24 hours I got used to not having it around and I enjoyed it. Some things I take for granted, such as checking traffic in the car, made me miss the phone though.

My boss would can me pretty quick if I did that, but I get your point.

And FWIW, I told me boss ahead of time and it was all gravy. Wouldn't have done it without that blessing.

I couldn't do it. I have a hard enough time trying to get through a full night without my phone ringing.

My husband didn't have a phone for a month as well back when we were dating. His phone died and it was a month before he was eligible for an upgrade so he just waited it out. DROVE ME CRAZY

Only way I could communicate with him when not face to face was via IM on our computers(he kept his up while at work). It sucked.

Hell no.

I have a hard enough time leaving it in my truck when I go to the Masters for an 8-10 hour day.

My dad's even worse. I think he'd have a brain anureism (sp?) if he didn't have his cell.
