The whole engagement ring thing is just silly. If I were an alien and saw a man bending his knee and offering a valuable which gender would I think is in charge?

I'd probably still want a ring...so I'm sticking with that much.
Probably not a diamond though. Maybe something unique with a blue stone, like aquamarine or tanzanite.

Ya, and that doesn't particularly bother me though either. There are countless things people do or value every day that have little intrinsic value, but make life interesting for selfish reasons, and I'm OK with that.

Mine certainly isn't the biggest and best but I absolutely love my ring. I also love knowing my husband didn't go into debt to get that ring.
