@ryenarussillo: Portland sounds like a no for Asik, but New Orleans trying to figure out a way to get him. The returns on Gordon are not what they want.

Almost get the feeling we are just searching for any move to make.

Also Rockets-related: big man Omer Asik not expected to get his wish of escaping Houston, as I'm told there's nothing brewing on that front

It sounds like no one is willing to trade for bad contracts these days unless they send you a worse one back in return. So he probably is having problems getting deals he wants.

That's my biggest concern. I do not think Dell has any clue as to what direction this team should take. When he signed Evans, I figured it had to mean we were moving Gordon. I know it is not the case (at least I hope not), but it seems like he reacts on the fly.

It definitely seems to be the case. The Evans signing was and still is weird. I really do wonder at times if he doesn't consult with Monty at all on the direction of the roster.

I keep thinking this organization keeps trying to put players out of position.

lets turn Rivers into a PG

lets turn Evans into a SF

It has never made any sense to have a $10 million 6th man guard with $25 million worth of starters in front of him and a $9 million 2nd 6th man already on the roster. I think Demps didn't realize how hard it would be to move Gordon. It's hard to move a lot of players, look at Asik. Granted there is the funny business with the poison pill, but who would have thought the day would come when you couldn't get a decent return on one of the best defensive centers in the league?

Asik would be bad-arse next to Davis. I predict that if y'all get him, everone here will praise the move.

It really depends on what we give up

I'm sure we'll find something mutually beneficial

It's not out of position, it's trying to fit non traditional players into traditional roles.

They have a weird roster with 3 of their top 5 being a paradigm shifting 20 yo pf/c, prototype stretch big, and the man with no position in Evans.

Trying to fit any of those three foundation pieces into a positional box is silly. The overall idea of this roster being crafted around rigid and retrograde labels is a fool's errand IMO.

And if we acquire Asik and keep Anderson, we're going to have the same problem with our bigs, that we have now with our guards.

There's going to be tons of BS thrown at the wall the next two days. When Woj tells us that something is afoot, then I'll really pay attention.

Agreed. Not to discredit Russillo, but there may be a reason he was given this info and not some of the other guys.

Depends on who you ask, but maybe situation is a better word to use than problem. How would a rotation of Anderson/Asik/Davis work? Davis' minutes won't be affected, but what about Anderson and Asik, who will making a combined $23 mil next year. Does one of them only play 25 minutes per game, similar to Tyreke this year? Do you play Anderson at the 3, where he'll be a liability on defense (Monty's biggest talking point)? Or do you play them depending on matchups? If so, is it a good idea to pay $23 mil per year to situational players?

It would be great to have all 3, but do we just completely ignore the SF spot to keep these 3? It's not a problem to have all 3 of Davis/Anderson/Asik, but keeping Aminu around as your starting 3 because of it is a problem.
