Aside from the fact that he has two first names, why the "meh" assessments?

Because last time he was at LSU our defense became a dumpster fire under him and Mallory.
This time though he won't have as much responsibility so I guess it could work.

Because he sucked as a DC...yeah I know...makes a lot of sense

Did we hire him as dc?
This is a good hire.

Peveto, 51, just finished his first season at Kentucky where he coached special teams and safeties. He was a member of coach Les Miles' first LSU staff. He coached linebackers and special teams from 2005-07 and was promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2008 along with Doug Mallory.
Peveto left LSU to take the head coaching job at Northwestern State where he compiled a 14-30 record, including an 0-11 mark his first season. He was fired after going 4-7 in 2012 and moved on to Kentucky last season.
He played defensive back at SMU from 1982-86 and has also coached as an assistant at Trinity Valley Community College (1987), Stephen F. Austin (1988-91), Southern Miss (1992-93), Arkansas (1994-95), Northwestern State (1996-98), Houston (1999-02) and Middle Tennessee State (2003-04). He was born in Beaumont, Texas and grew up in Orangefield, Texas.
LSU also interviewed, among others, former Tigers assistant Mike Haywood and former LSU walk-on and graduate assistant Daryl Daye for the job. Daye is currently the head coach Missouri Southern State and Haywood is not in coaching

Wished he was staying at UK. Hell of a recruiter and really good coaching special teams. I think LSU made a solid hire.

He did a lot of Georgia recruiting when he was here. Maybe he goes out there a bit.
