The Bogue Chitto river is by far the nicest river to do an overnight trip. Put in near Tylertown and go to Franklinton. No canoe companies on that stretch and huge sand bars. Before I moved to Tenn, We would kayak starting well north of Tylertown and go all the way to the Pearl 2-3 times very summer. I miss the hell out of that.

I've done tangi a few times. Has some really nice camping spots on several beaches.

Lake Fausse Point in St. Martin Parish has some tent sights you can only get to by canoe.
