I work at BASF and there is an operator here that lives in Pascagoula, MS. He has a 2.5 hr drive one way to work each day.

Used to do 55 miles one way when I worked in Anchorage. It was about a 90 minute trip.

Hope he makes a shite ton of bank for that to not have any effect on his gas expenses. Probably cuts down a car/truck's value and lifespan in half with a commute like that.

Hour and a half - 100 miles each way. Philly to North Jersey right outside of manhattan, but I do it by choice. On per diem and company used to pay for car and gas. We were given a one time salary adjustment to pay for it. The amount is right but now it's taxed which sucks. I just drive my wife's accord to make up for it and plan on keeping it longer than I would have. I work for a company that manages construction projects, so no point in moving. Next one could be a lot closer to home.

Bueche to Broussard. 1:10-1:20 commute each way every day. Think it's about 140-150 miles round trip.

Went to school with a girl that became a missionary in Thailand or Cambodia (cant remember which one) but she would catch a flight to Atlanta where she worked as a flight attendant for Delta

I worked in Lafayette but lived off of the Highland exit. 72 miles. One way. While the I-10 construction was going on in Baton Rouge.

Never.

The last 26 years of my career I had a 180 mile round-trip commute (Wanted to raise our family in a place with low crime-good schools-affordable).

To avoid sitting in Bay Area traffic for hours I'd start my day at 3AM and end it at 10PM when I went to bed, plus I was on call 24/7, 3 weeks out of each month. Lived on 5 hours or less sleep for all those years. Within a week of retiring and not having to make that commute, my mental and physical health improved 100 fold...

God man, that sounds terrible. I don't think I'm mentally strong enough to handle that long of a commute and that little sleep for 26 years.

I personally knew a guy who lived in Wilmington, Delaware and worked in downtown DC. He said it wasn't as bad as it sounded b/c he took the train all the way and slept the entire way. Still, it's a little over 100 miles and about two hours door to door each way. Four hours on a fricking train every day is no way to live even if you do sleep most of the way.
