What would happen to the millions of people employed in the insurance sector? What would happen to private doctors and hospitals who can't compete with a monopoly that offers its service for free? You are KIDDING yourself if you think a private market could survive while competing against that odious entity known as the state.

Are you talking about the government owning all medical device manufacturers, hospitals, DME companies, pharmaceutical companies, etc? Or just nationalization of the third party payment system?

Big difference there. The former would be an absolute disaster. The latter would end up looking like the K-12 public school system, with the poor getting service in name only and the rich getting high quality medical care outside the public system.

almost every single industrial country has it, and they are not disasters, in fact, the US has worse health care and pays more for it than many other countries that have nationalized medicine.

Sorry, facts hurt.

This. I will never understand why liberals think the Government can do things better than the private sector.

People really think politicians and bureaucrats can run Healthcare better and more efficiently than doctors and insurance agencies who went to school specifically for that career?

Don't care. Insurance industry and all those profit off of people's health needs to burn in a fire.

Then you know, people who aren't rich can afford the same health care the Donald Trump's of the world get. Oh darn not that.

You're dreaming if you believe that. Donald Trump will go to a private doctor unless you make that illegal. Then he'll fly to Costa Rica or whatever country allows American doctors to set up boutique practices. Them only the ultra-rich will be able to escape the system while middle-class families will be denied necessary treatments if Sebelius decides they don't matter.

Shitty healthcare?

You're kidding yourself if you think the quality of healthcare won't take a serious dive under a UHC system.

Look up demographics and med mal brah..comparing apples to oranges when you compare the US to Sweden, let's say..next time you go to Walmart..like, om..look around and know that everyone in there will likely live to 80 unless they are shot and killed or die in a car accident. People that compare the life expectancy and medical care in the US vs other Western country's know nothing about health care and the dollars and sweat spent on noncompliant, obese patients.

why? i love health care and the ability to hedge my costs in major medical needs with insurance

we all get to enjoy lesser care and our freedom to contract/associate is destroyed. sounds legit

So aerobics instructors and pediatric rheumatologists need to burn in a fire?? They definitely profit off of people's health

Has it been a disaster in other western countries that have tried it? The millions of insurance sector employees you mention are already beneficiaries of unimaginable government intervention and largesse, so they are middle men that should be simply cut out.

Doctors in this country fight like hell against things like nurse practitioners. That is, they don't care about free markets at all. What they care about is creating government-sanctioned licensure cartels which protect their position and drive up costs. Screw 'em.
