IMO the only reason to ever open carry in public is to get a reaction unless you really think you might die and the only way out is through the thug crowd.

fwiw i've opened carried in nola to keep urbanites from asking me for money, it really works like a charm

Was sitting in CC class and instructor had just spoken about open carry and people asking for a reaction and then I check the OB and see this thread.

I saw a guy in Home Depot in Bessemer Alabama two weeks ago doing the open carry thing. He had it perched nice and high on his right hip for all to see. I am a CC carry guy for years and don't see the need for open carry. It does bother others around you. Open carry is a rare scene.
