How did Matt Lauer get ahead in life with such a crappy work ethic?

Lauer Complaining about double duty at Olympics

Only 9 more days dude. Suck it up and make yourself more marketable. Dude looks like a sissy now complaining about sleep. This is his opportunity to put another feather in his cap and possibly take his broadcasting career to another level. Network bosses are not going to like his prima donna attitude.

And it's not like he's even shaving, so that's one less thing to worry about

I know it is probably rough, but the guy is hosting the Today Show and the Olympics and gets paid millions to do so. Can't believe he'd complain.

Really hard to figure out how NBC didn't have a good backup plan.

On one hand: the guy makes $25MM/year. He doesn't need any feathers in caps or any more marketability.

On the other hand: If I'm being paid $25MM/year for a job that anyone would kill for, I'd probably shut up, drink lots of coffee, and do the job.

have you seen how much you make hosting the morning show? unless you're hosting the nightly news there really isn't another level.

Because Costas hadn't missed a single night since Barcelona 92.

Supply and Demand.

He is obviously a valuable commodity, hence his $25M salary for Today Show.

His network wants him to do another show as well.

They should have to pay him more to do it.

If you make $70k/year as an engineer and your company tells you now you have to do sales as well, guess what you are going to need more money to do it.

to be fair though, Lauer seems like he works his arse off.

I'm sure most would come here and complain if they were added a double job because their employer messed up. It sucks. He was asked about it and explained.

He's probably tired and miserable right now.

What level is that? He's already kinda pretty high up if he's doing the olympics.
