Sig - M400
Sig - 516 - concerned with gas piston
M&P15 - concerned with no dust cover or forward assist.(but dont think this even matters)
PSA - any model...was leaning towards them, but here lately they have been "Temporarily Out of Stock"

not looking to buy the upper/lower separate.
Also, any AR pron pics with info would be appreciated.

It's not the case on all S&W M&P 15s. There are many different versions of this gun. The cheapest are the ones without a dust cover. And unless you're trying to bury the gun a dust cover doesn't do much.

I have this exact model. The only thing I use it for is shooting at the range and the occasional ride through the woods. It's been fine without the dust cover and forward assist for what I use it for.

Of all budget ARs, you cannot beat the M&P15 Sport, which is the one you're talking about. It's a bare bones rifle but is very high quality made. I will also say of all factory triggers on ARs, S&W does the best job. They're about 6-7 pounds but are very crisp.

Here is my own review of the Sig M400. Sorry for the lighting; I had to use a substitute camera.

MOE M400

The Sig 516 is also very well built. One of my friends has the Sig Patrol Rifle, which is essentially the same gas system. I'm not crazy about quad rails, especially on a gas piston AR as it makes it very front-heavy. But he loves his and it has that satisfying "ping" after each shot like an M1A. Maybe you wouldn't like that but I certainly do.

And I have never fired a PSA but everyone here raves about them and they have some very good deals on their site. I would imagine they make a quality AR as well.

Never had any problems with my M400, but don't have much experience with any of the others.

Out of all those I recommend the PSA stuff, just make sure you are ordering the premium stuff. The PTAC stuff is crap.

I've had the M&P Sport in my truck for about three years now. More than a few hogs and beavers as well as several coyotes and a couple of deer.

Never had a failure, has been money out of the box, and I love it. Will buy more.

eta....its sitting in my office at home for its first cleaning now, but has spent very few nights inside my house.

I have the M400 I bought post SH & I love it. The picture posted I have the aimpoint pro mounted on it. I have recently switched to the Trijicon TA102(I think this is the model #) it has the user controlled illuminated reticle with fixed 4x32 magnification. I now can put 4 out of 5 shots off the bench on to a 50 cent piece @ 100yrds, I can hit torso size steel with 10 shot groups inside a paper plate@ 600 all day long. They have started a new run of the M400 with different markings on them, a friend of mine bought one & so far it seems to be well built. Get good glass to go with the rifle (we all know this though)

Daniel Defense AR's are a nice piece of work. Academy has one for around $1500 right now, that was really my first choice but post Sandy Hook for about 4 months couldn't shite be had nowhere. I lucked up on my Sig one day at academy & bought it on the spot. I'm currently in the process of building an AR pistol with Noveske parts, I hope the machine lives up to the hype & $ around the Noveske name.
