Amazing we have only ever won mens trny ONE time and that was 1980 (insert Dale Brown criticism here), in any case, THIS team can still be a success and it is NOT unthinkable we can win trny...ole miss (lol) won it last year for first time since 1981! Look, it is not going to be easy, but outside of UK (who we beat) and UF, there are NO teams we will not be favored or small underdog against. Don't give up on these guys!

Anxious to see how they bounce back Saturday in a hostile environment.

We've been able to play at home this year after most losses.

I thought about this same small detail last night.

Same here. The last 2 on the road haven't exactly been Syracuse or Cameron Indoor, this will be the loudest place they've been so far. Should be interesting.

If JOBIII can stay in the game in the first for more than 6 minutes, all bets are off, hopefully we can somehow pull it out at Ark.

I can't believe we never did shite in the tourney with Shaq's teams.

The only time I remember us in the final game was against UF in 2006.(?)

I watched a lot of the games during those years and I would think there's quite a few on the Rant who did as well.
What I remember from that time period is a lot of talent but that talent never fully gelled playing as a team to reach their potential as a team for whatever reason, people then wondered if it was egos, personalities, etc.
They would lose to teams that were not as individual talented but played as a unit better.
By the way opposing teams strategy against Shaq was basically to foul him about every time he had the ball, sending him to the free throw line, and I don't know if you recall but he was a terrible free throw shooter in college, I don't know if his percentage was even 50%.
Coach Brown complained a lot about this, but he didn't seem to plan or wasn't successful in game planning a successful response to this strategy.

I was there...great memory.

Dale took on a philosiphy of de-emphasizing the SEC Tourney unless we needed victories to get in the dance. I didn't particularly agree with that, but it was his way.

As inconsistent as this team has been all year, I find it hard to fathom that we can string 3-4 wins together (whichever might be necessary given where we finish).

But I think it is becoming a foregone conclusion given our road woes that this is our only shot of getting in.

Seems like we've played on Sunday a bunch. Just haven't won it.

I think it's been 20+ years since we played in final.

Yeah it was 93. I thought we were there in 05 and 06 but we weren't.

I can only remember one other final besides '93 and that was '87 when we had to play four times in four nights and played Bama in the Finals.

We likely don't make the dance without that run. Went on to the Elite 8 that year and had Indiana on the ropes with a Final Four birth in New Orleans at stake.

That loss still pains me to this day.

Actually the tourney is at a neutral site, not a road game. We seem to be okay in those settings

This team probably isn't there mentally right now IMO. We do have the athletic talent to pull it off, but we just don't have it outside of the PMAC right now. We still can get better and with the talent upgrades Coach Jones will continue to bring in, we will be a contender in the future I think, but this season......the way they are playing right this second......we need to get better.

If only that Nikita Wilson jumper had traveled two inches further...

I still think that if NW had made that shot, the officials would have looked over at a scowling Bobby Knight and then waved it off...

You remember it as I remember it. Hack-a-Shaq became painful to watch. And yes, Dale Brown had no effective answer to it.

In the NBA they did it to Shaq as well. His only answer then was to get even more physical with the ball. Nothing he could really do about it I guess
