Mississippi

In Warren County Mississippi, we had a good season and I have not heard any complaints. Even got our doe quota, and a lot of nice bucks, and left tons. I would say another good season. Reports from my buddies across the state were generally good. Not best season ever but no one is quitting this year either.

Alabama:

In Baldwin county and South Alabama lots of complaints and poor season overall. We killed 5 at our camp but mostly crap deer. Some of the neighboring camps where they usually kill dozens of nice deer usually were all down too. Also hearing bad things from buddies in Black hills Butler etc.

Weather pattern really sucked this year. I have heard some processors that usually do 40-50 deer a day on weekends were doing like 5.

It seemed to get better at the end, but 70 degrees one day and 20 the next took its tool.

What say ye?

same at my lease

you can't put corn on the ground anymore, they destroy everything

i never shot the big buck i was hunting all year, missed my opportunity in early Nov. Got tons of pictures, even in daylight, just never saw him while in the stand

hopefully he survived and i see him again next season

Does Louisiana have a bounty on Hogs? The day may son killed that 10 point they killed 70 plus hogs. The state should start giving traps away.

Hogs not in Baldwin strong yet but coming

I heard Louisiana was decent this year but did not hunt it so defer to you guys.

Didn't sit on a deer stand all year again this year. I call that successful season.

West Feliciana Deer- Didnt see the numbers ive seen in past years but it been a consistent trend. By far the weirdest rut ive ever seen. It lasted about 2 months

South Texas - Very slow start to the season and as a result we didn't shoot enough deer. Saw some really nice ones, should have killed more culls and management bucks though. All together it was a decent year.

Shot this buck

Other random deer pics from the year

Successful headshot

Only shot 2 decent bucks on our low fence place though

Maybe around $2,000/acre? That's what our neighbor bought his place for without minerals a couple years ago. Could be more now

West fel. Spillman area
We killed 5 does and 3 rack bucks, 1 spike mistaken for a doe
We usually kill around 11 deer a yr, we were much more
Selective this yr and didnt pull the trigger on lots a young bucks. We saw more deer
Than we ever have (mostly does) an young bucks.
Think we averaged something like 3.1 deer sightings per hunt.
Should be good next yr
We feed zero corn, no hogs.....yet

Killed an 8, pretty rack, like 16 wide. Two does. Hunted four times. Hunted ducks once, it was an odd year to say the least. Next year should be more active.

Natchez, MS

River came up too early and screwed the season pretty bad. Worst I remember in prob last 10 years.

I have a buddy that hunts in S Ala. and he said the season was weak.

Locally, I agree with FTF. The rut was late in the Maurepas area and it lasted longer than normal. I killed a nice 8 point that was chasing a doe on Jan. 24th during the first sleet/snow event.

Hardly any deer were seen at our lease in Eufaula, AL this year. 3 decent bucks, a couple culls, and a few does. The only deer I killed were a knot head I thought was a doe, and a basket rack 5 pt. that crawled onto my greenfield from the neighbors' property, that he had shot a couple hours before. I would've let him walk if he hadn't already been shot, but I definitely didn't mind putting the meat in the freezer. It was a slow season to say the least.
