Yeah, I have a 16/3 from UVerse and can't hardly get through a show on netflix without rebuffering a bunch. Never have an issue with most other services (Pandora, Youtube, Vimeo). It's bullshite.

Right but they are going to tell you that the cable companies deserve the right to do this because they lay the wire...

So this is all A OK!

Just wait. Cox is just a little slower than the biggest companies.

Basically they make your internet slower so its more of a hassle to using something like Netflix which streams. Since Netflix in competition to their cable offerings, they do it to try and sway people from Netflix.

they're not *technically* doing anything..including lifting a finger to ensure traffic coming from YOUTUBE, NETFLIX and other streaming sites plays well.

quite simply, they're not 'throttling' netflix so much as they're neglecting to keep the parts of their network up that maintain that experience as more congestion from increased usage of streaming services increases.

ergo, over time the quality will continue to drop and more buffering until you get frustrated and return to comcast ON DEMAND, which, incidently will look quite stunning in full dolby 5.1 1080p HD.

Right, I was going to say "unintentional throttling."

But still, that option is just about close to available now.

Is this graph just showing that comcast/uverse is relatively slow? I thought that was common knowledge. It is cheaper isn't it?

ETA: NVM. I guess I get it.

It shows it has gotten slower as netflix (an alternative to their cable product) has become more popular basically.

right. comcast used to be ranked around 5-6 out of the 17 or so national ISPs.

Now they're all the way down to 14th. Netflix finally started monitoring this around Nov of 2012 so they're able to watch what's going on.

January 2014
1 – Google Fiber 3.78
2 – Cablevision - Optimum 2.92
3 – Cox 2.69
4 – Suddenlink 2.52
5 – Charter 2.16
6 +1 Time Warner Cable 2.01
7 -1 Verizon - FiOS 1.82
8 +5 Bright House 1.78
9 +2 Windstream 1.70
10 – Frontier 1.68
11 +1 CenturyLink 1.64
12 -3 AT&T - U-verse 1.59
13 -5 Mediacom 1.53
14 – Comcast 1.51
15 – AT&T - dsl 1.07
16 +1 Clearwire 0.99
17 -1 Verizon - dsl 0.97

LOL @ comcast & uverse right down there next to the ancient DSL

wasn't uverse supposed to be the tits compared to dsl?

apparently not for netflix subscribers.
