quote:

15. 1B Adrian Gonzalez, Los Angeles Dodgers: five years, $106 million remaining (last year’s rank: 14)

14. 1B Prince Fielder, Texas Rangers: seven years, $168 million ($30 million paid by Tigers) (NR)

13. 2B Dan Uggla, Atlanta Braves: two years, $26 million (NR)

12. SP Ricky Romero, Toronto Blue Jays: two years, $15.6 million (NR)

11. RP Jonathan Broxton, Cincinnati Reds: two years, $17 million (NR)

10. RP Brandon League, Los Angeles Dodgers: two years, $17 million (13)

9. OF Carl Crawford, Los Angeles Dodgers: four years, $82.5 million (2)

8. SP Chad Billingsley, Los Angeles Dodgers: one year, $15 million (NR)

7. SP John Danks, Chicago White Sox: three years, $42.75 million (11)

6. OF Josh Hamilton, Los Angeles Angels: four years, $99.6 million (NR)

5. OF B.J. Upton, Atlanta Braves: four years, $59.8 million (NR)

4. 1B Mark Teixeira, New York Yankees: three years, $67.5 million (DHM)

3. 1B Ryan Howard, Philadelphia Phillies: three years, $85 million (3)

2. 1B Albert Pujols, Los Angeles Angels: eight years, $212 million (15)

1. 3B Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees: four years, $61 million7 (1)

Obviously A-Rod gets #1 because of the suspension, and he won't even be on the field. But I still just can't believe the amount of money that Pujols got. His contract is the worst by far to me.

Not legit. Bobby Bonilla isn't on that list. He's still getting paid.

Amen to that.

Any sensible cards fan who watched him over his last couple of years here knew that he was going to get paid for what he did, not what he was going to do. Was so happy they decided not to cripple the organization for a decade.

Some of those 1, 2 year deals aren't bad. They suck for the short term, but none have massive money per year, just an average player getting paid. When you get into 4+ years at big time per year salaries, it's gotta be a GMs worst nightmare. Pujols, Rodriguez, fielder, Gonzalez, Howard in that order for me. Why young athletes don't wanna play baseball is beyond me....

Please add Carlos Lee to Houston.

-My bad didn't realize it was current. My hatred for Carlos Lee runs deep.

Absolutely, Mozeliak made a great decision. The Cards signed 3 players for that price.

Uggla deal is not really hurting us too badly. 2016 is when our money starts to get tight and he is off the books by then.
