3 seed is very realistic.

LSU needs to get it together against teams they are supposed to beat and finish 3rd, hopefully eliminating the need to win the whole tourney to make it to the dance.

Win tonight in College Station and then maybe something to consider, but as of now LSU is looking like a .500 SEC with one road win vs. SC and one home loss vs. TN.

I think Tennessee gets to 3rd in SEC with 12 wins, LSU has a shot at 4th with 11 wins and I think Ole Miss drops some games and only wins 10. 4th would be pretty great.

To get there, LSU would have to win:
UGA @ home
aTm x2
Miss St

then win one of the two on Arkansas road or Vandy on the road. I think this is possible.

Ole Miss could easily lose their next 3 games (UGA on road, Florida and Kentucky) and still have Arkansas on road left.

Tennessee has a pretty easy schedule left and I think could win 6 of last 7.

Tennessee has the easier remaining schedule of the 3, but after losing last night to UF, they'd have to go 6-1 down the stretch to finish 12-6. I'm not betting on any team outside of UF finishing 6-1 in this conference.

Ole Miss and LSU have basically identical schedules remaining as far as strength of opponents, but Ole Miss gets UF and UK at home. LSU lost to both UT and Ole Miss, so they'll need to be the team to get to outright 3rd seed IMO, or have some kind of 5 way tie throwing UGA and Vandy in the mix and hoping the tie breaker works out. That scenario probably means everyone has only 10 wins, and the SEC tourney becomes a must win.

I think we'll get the double BYE, but like you said the #3 seed would be ideal. You wanna avoid Florida as long as you can if at all possible.

I'm thinking that LSU will need to make a little noise in the tournament (especially with only 11 SEC wins) to get a bid.

What are your thoughts on the double bye potentially taking away the opportunity for a win in the tournament in the second round? I realize that we certainly don't want to lose any regular season games, but does the committee take notice if a team goes 1 and done, but has the double bye?

I'll find out everything I need to know about LSU tonight. If we can't win on the road against the aggies then who can we beat on the road. I know the aggies have a good home record but we should still beat them if we are a tournament team.

Truly believe that most decisions are made prior to tournament. plus the wins that LSU would get by not receiving the 2nd bye wouldn't be significant enough to help, but a loss would be bad enough to hurt.

It's a tough situation. If LSU gets the 3-4 seed, they will probably play 1 game against a team that is a "no-win" situation because it's a bad team. Then they would be faced with UF or KY in second round.

On the flip side, if we finish sixth or worse, we would get a chance to win 2 games before that round, but it would also mean that we probably had some bad losses to finish 6th or worse.

How are the few remaining hoops fans feeling about that #3 or #4 seed now? Tigers will finish .500 in conference, in the middle of standings, and likely as a #6 or #7 seed.

My "want" now is to host an NIT game that doesn't conflict with a baseball game at the Box.

it could be good for the team in terms of getting some post season experience, assuming they win the first game. That experience might help them in the NIT.
If they were to be in the top 4 in conference I would expect them to be bumped after the 1st game. Not sure if a top 4 finish is good enough yo be on the NCAA bubble.

Pretty sure a four way tiebreaker doesn't work like that

we should be in the nit this year as long as we finish .500 in conf. I think last year was just a weird year with a 19 win team being left out the nit
