Looking for some feedback on Gibson's. Has anyone in here been there?

I've been there. It was very good, I had the bone in filet. I remember being very glad I wasn't paying the bill. Seemed to be a bit overpriced for what it was, but I guess that comes with the territory of being a famous Chicago steakhouse.

Was fortunate enough to attend a private function upstairs last summer and sincerely believe it was one of the best steaks I've had(bone in ribeye).

Plus ambiance and service was tops.

Great place in a great neighborhood. All kinds of potential either before or after dinner to keep the good times rolling

There are a lot of good steak places in Chicago. Gibson's is a great steak place. You will not go wrong by going there.

Do not go to Chicago Chop House.

David Burke's Primehouse was Chicago Magazines best steak house this year. However, if you like prime rib, go to Lawry's.

Thanks for the reply Chity. I think I'm leaning Gibsons. Just curious as to why no Chop House? We've actually been there before and really enjoyed it. Only went once and it was in 2009, but it was good.

I have not been to Chicago Chophouse recently. A friend told me they were bought out and raised their prices. Basically they started catering to tourist. You can get a better bang for your buck elsewhere.

A lot of locals do not go there any more. Locals do still go to Gibson's.

Gibson's has a reputation where politicians, news people and big business people hang out. Whether that is still true, I am not sure. They still maintain good quality from what I have heard.

I've been there twice and loved it. Second time I ate in the frog bar as a walk in. No worries - same menu. Moules frites are extraordinary, steaks are top notch. Both times were great food. Better service of course on the restaurant side.

One of the best steakhouses I have ever been to in all of my travels. I make it a point to go there every time I visit Chicago. There is also a great bourbon bar across the street for after dinner cocktails. Try to get a table by the window. Great view of downtown Chicago at night. Usually a great piano player in the bar also if you get there prior to your reservation. I highly recommend it.

Have some buddies who have been and they all say it was one of the best steaks they have ever eaten.

They brought back a steak seasoning rub which is excellent for cooking on the pit at home. Judging by the exceptional taste of the rub, I would definitely recommend going.
