I'm sorry your uncle's pizza place ain't doing too hot, but coming on here acting like a pretentious douche ain't gonna help it.

"BR doesn't deserve good pizza" frick off, nobody asked him to open shite here. This is the land of chain restaurants.

His business struggling has nothing to do with his product. He makes delicious pizzas. People don't come back because of his attitude (berating his staff in front of or within ear shot of customers) and poor service (slow waters, unclean tables, ect).

It's also in a tough location to turn in and out of on a busy street, so some people sho see it driving by and think about going are dissuaded. I know it's a dumb reason, but it's true.

He must have gone to the same business seminar as the other Deangelo brother. Does he not pay sales tax either?

I posted this in last weeks Mama Dellas thread, but it is likely more suitable here. I wanted to like the place. I could even get passed a cranky owner, as I love Pokey. Part of it.

quote:

I liked it before, but only went a couple times. I have been wanting to go again, so we did recently. We went a couple wed nights ago after church. They were pretty busy, so food took a long time - IMO. We ordered 1 pizza and an order of meatballs. Meatballs were delivered in 15 min, but the pizza took over an hour. Barry obviously is the only person allowed in the kitchen, and when its busy - you need to be prepared to wait. We arrived at 6:45 and got our pizza at 8. I understand being short-staffed and having a busy evening. No big deal. I thought the food was pretty good.

One thing that really peaked my attention while there.... Was a couple who walked in at 7:55. They mentioned they were from out of town and wanted to know what time they closed. Barry looked up and said we close at 8, used to stay open later but we werent ever busy, so now we close at 8. The couple asked if they could be served since it was before 8, and Barry said he could make them something "To-Go." The couple obviously didnt want this, so they said thank you but we will find somewhere we can sit. I looked at my wife in disbelief. He should have been doing cartwheels that folks are comin in his place to eat now, and serving everyone until he locks the door. Unacceptable. Totally understand why he has struggled with business, and likely lost me as a customer. Big whoop, I know.

Funniest thing I've seen this week.

He can do whatever he wants. Does he want to make money? If not, he's doing a great job.

It's a New York style pizzeria. If you want the same old same old then go somewhere else. He's not going to make a pizza with some of the stupid shite people get elsewhere nor should he. That's not real pizza.

You fluff Fleur de Lis...your opinion is irrelevant when it comes to pizza.

Exactly, I've been twice and the service was beyond slow both times, both before the 'makeover'.

The pizza was good, but both times I had to wait almost an hour.

I'll probably never go back. There are just too many other decent options in town where I don't have to wait for an hour.

Not sure the "makeover" helped too much. They're usually dead most nights of the week and including some weekends when I drive past it. Also, they're closed for 2 weeks. Owner has a sign on the door, family related health issue.
