Wife and I went a few days ago. The pizza was pretty good and would go back based on food quality alone. But we went a little before 8pm and every table had dirty dishes on it and service was awful.
We had to ask someone to clean off a table for us to sit at. And the place was maybe 10% at capacity. Kind of a nasty vibe. Just dirty.
I was VERY disappointed.

New Yorkers are just like that. Ms DS is the same way. When I get jalapenos and mushrooms she thinks that's sacrilegious.
I'm mostly just trolling in here but it would be a real shame if the business failed. It is a very good pizza and the guy who owns it really is a nice guy. But he's right that it's not "New York" pizza if it's customized all to hell.
