If they sold their gaming division, i have to think some one would swoop in quickly. Sega???? MS did the leg work, the next company can definitely benefit from their hard work.

I would think Nintendo would be first to acquire it, their stuff hasn't exactly been the earth shattering titles of yester year. Might be the infusion they need.

Need to sell/rid itself of Bing first, investors want the Surface gone with it as well, then Xbox.

Surface idk about, seems like the 2 is a solid device but maybe it's still not selling well either.

I don't see why they couldn't continue both.

Enterprise software isn't a complicated thing. Businesses want it to be simple, secure, and business focused. Microsoft fricked that up with Windows 8.

I think they can but when things don't go well people always want scapegoats and change

Xbox is their scapegoat? Is it losing them money? I would think it was a cash cow. They didn't reference any losses in the article.

I think one of the big problems they have right now is the inability to accept the fact that Windows 8 was a terrible, terrible idea. They should focus their energy there first.

Everything not windows is the scapegoat. Windows 8 doesn't do well so people will say they spent too much time doing other things.

Windows 8 is absolutely terrible.

That kinda of overhaul needs to be an optional GUI or at least phased in.

It's not complicated. It's just stupid and counterintuitive.

They can scapegoat a lot of things. MS puts a lot of product lines together with the Xbox in its Entertainment division, making it tough to figure what product is causing losses. I know they lost a lot of money on the first Xbox, but those costs set them up for some success with the 360.

Those investors are fricking retarded then. The Xbox is a cash cow for Microsoft.

This is like Sony's biggest investor last year trying to pressure them to split into two divisions because he only wanted to invest in their entertainment side basically.

Sony didn't listen obviously but they are trying to dump underperforming assets and have been for a few years now. It's about time though. I think 6 years in a row of being in the red is enough and do hope they turn it around mostly because I think someone needs to put pressure on Samsung in other markets to keep them on their toes. Outside of Xbox vs PS4 Sony is no threat to MS though.

MS is fine and they are always thinking in the long term. In the long term the Xbox One sets the ground work for whole home automated systems. The day is coming when one piece of hardware runs your whole house. Xbone being an all in one for your TV is the start of that IMO.

I think they may scrap some things but the xbox won't be one off them.

The Xbox marketplace does well over $1 billion per year in sales and that will only continue to grow. That doesn't count all the other licensing deals they get from physical games and hardware. It's making money. The only thing is that it may not be making the type of money these investors want and because of that they think it's a resource hog.

To understand these investors you have to think like a spoiled rich guy that is upset he only got 8 billion last year instead of 9 billion.
