Too Soon For A Valentines Gift?

My roommate has been talking to this girl for about 3 weeks now. Today he asks me what would be a good gift for her. I told him it was too soon and he'd seem too eager, but he thinks it'll show his romantic side. So I ask the OT, is 3 weeks too soon?

i think its too soon for something major, but if he is interested in a chick, then he should convey it with a little something.
. the guy who ive started seeing (we've been on 5 dates) gave me different coffee roasts and artisan soaps i happen to have a deep love for both things.
he didnt spend a fortune, but made a gesture which was noted and appreciated. just glad i didnt go on the last date empty handed

They've hung out 3 or 4 times I think. They've never really went on a date, but I know when they hang out it's either with her friends on his. So they're there with each other but it's never been an official date.
