The Daily Show lies and takes Peter Schiff out of context about the minimum wage

https://www.mediaite.com/tv/peter-schiff-takes-mediaite-inside-the-daily-show-hit-job/
Excerpt:
" A lengthy email he released on Tuesday shows that a The Daily Show producer offered repeated assurances that he would not be taken out of context. “We NEVER edit out of context,” the staffer wrote. “Meaning we never ever show responses to a question we never asked.”
“[R]est assured,” the producer repeated. “NOTHING will be edited out of context.”
But that is exactly what happened, Schiff said. He called the final product a “hit job.”
Schiff revealed that he sat down with correspondent Samantha Bee for four hours, in which he described at length the political origins of the minimum wage and the adverse effect it has had on youth unemployment and productivity.
Schiff was shocked when he saw the finished product. “They took little pieces and rearranged them, all designed to make me look bad,” he added with an unmistakable hint of betrayal.
“They succeeded in making me look bad,” he asserted. He adds that he and his brother have requested that The Daily Show release the entire four-hour interview, though they are not holding out much hope that this will occur.
Mediaite reached out to The Daily Show and Viacom for comment but had not yet heard back from them as of the time of this publication.""
You can see the original Daily Show segment at the bottom of the page.
You can see Peter Shiff giving a piece by piece breakdown of the interview here:

From an interview on Stewart's student's show, The Colbert Report, "I enjoy cocaine because it's a fun thing to do" (Rep. Robert Wexler)

THIS is why a lot of people will separately video the entirety their own interviews (see Ted Cruz's recent issues with CBS).

Which is essentially pointless. I'd guess less than 10% of the people who watch edited interviews on TV actually would go back and rewatch an unedited version.
Damage is done

You know who do?
JURIES
"False light" defamation. Plus, you already have the malice shown by the very editing itself.

Has this moron ever actually watched the show?
The reason he agreed to do this interview is because he was on the show before and was interviewed by Stewart.
He said, “I came there expecting him to be hostile,” Schiff said. “He’s liberal and I’m libertarian conservative, so I expected it to be confrontational.” He said he was pleasantly surprised to discover at the time that he was greeted warmly and that the audience was not as hostile to him and his views as he expected.
But he was still somewhat skeptical, so his brother emailed the Daily Show, and this is the email he got back:

Subject: RE: FW: The Daily Show
We NEVER edit out of context. Meaning we never ever show responses to a question we never asked. For starters it LOOKS BAD! But in all seriousness it’s not our prerogative to attack our interview subjects & slander them (unless they say really horrible, awful, racist things… but last I checked Peter doesn’t say such things!).
The general idea is to pretend this is a real news interview & correct our correspondent when he/she asks goofy questions. Our questions usually come from misunderstanding the other side’s arguments, for example. We want our interview subject to play the straight guy & that way they look normal & we look like the fool.
In this case Samantha Bee is our correspondent. She’ll take things she heard at these fast food strikes & report them back to Peter. Peter tells Sam why she may be mistaken, or what the strikers aren’t taking into account, etc. That’s the general idea. And we’ll go over all of this before we start up the cameras next week. (Peter & Jena can also discuss these concerns over the phone tomorrow.)
But rest assured– NOTHING will be edited out of context.
If you guys have any other questions or concerns don’t hesitate to bring them up!

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
604 West 52nd Street
New York, NY 10019
So he only agreed to the interview after he was assured that he would not be taken out of context, and that's after he had a good experience on the Daily Show prior.

I would say the morons are the people that watch the show and think Stewart is evenly marginally honest in his presentation.

If he really believes this and can prove it in a court of law, he should sue them for defamation of character. In absence of a viable law suit, he should publicize the facts to make the Daily Show look as bad as possible. Having said this, Schiff was naive' at best for trusting a liberal media outlet.

The best part was the unpaid intern in the room as they shot the segment.

When the Daily Show makes a funny point and it is on point, liberals love it. When they are lying and wrong it is just comedy. I hear people all the time say Jon Stewart nailed something...and not in a funny way though it may have been entertaining.

Does being interviewed by Jon on the actual set in 2009 count? It's clear by this interview that Stewart respected Schiff at this time. What changed?

People are morons now for NOT watching mind melting ignorance masquerading as comedy? FWIW I'm almost certain you structure your entire political belief system around Stewart and Colberts teachings.

This comedy show bit is beyond old. Stewart has run behind that Sheild every time he's been criticized. He can't have it both ways.

This piece was more political commentary (ala Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 mockumentary) than satire.
