Meh, not a need....and would be a distraction. Sorry...just harsh facts. Dont you think this team has had enough distractions the last couple years?

Mid round seems late.

His draft stock won't drop because of recent events.

Mid to late. It gonna take a team with strong veteran leadership and a strong front office. Dolphins are out.

people thought Te'o was doomed after his cat fishing saga.

not so much.

not saying he was RDPOY material but... people got over the story.

just wait until the next big story hits.

people are sheep.

I was telling a friend of mine yesterday that I wondered if he could cover receivers thinking he would be fantastic standing up and coming off the edge in our D. I was only saying that because I looked at a projection that had him in the 4th or 5th round and thought that would be a great value since the kid is a flat out player who can get after the QB. I still think it could work but can he cover having played DE in college?

Just like Tebow some teams will stay away not because of the gay issue but because of the attention that will follow. For many teams it may not be worth a head ache.

I highly doubt Vilma returns next year. As for Sam, I'd love to have him in the 4th or 5th round. We need guys who can rush the passer and with our DL, Sam would have a field day.

If I'm a GM, and I think this "story" may keep up (like if they follow the first openly gay player through the draft, training camp etc), I'm wondering if it's an unwanted distraction for my organization. Do I really want my players potentially falling under scrutiny? Constantly fielding questions of how they feel having a gay player in the locker room?

Eight NFL executives and coaches anticipate a "significant" draft-day plunge for Missouri OLB Michael Sam after revealing that he is homosexual.

quote:

The execs and coaches believe NFL locker rooms are "not prepared to deal with an openly gay player," and decision makers fear a "publicity circus" for the team that selects Sam. "At this point in time it's still a man's man game," said one player personnel assistant. "To call somebody a [gay slur] is still so commonplace." Rotoworld draft maven Josh Norris believes Sam has fourth- to seventh-round tape. "I just know with this going on this is going to drop him down," added one veteran scout. "There's no question about it. It's human nature. Do you want to be the team to quote-unquote 'break that barrier?'"
