I got tired of lugging my henry .22 through the woods while chasing coon hounds, so I bought myself an early graduation present, a Ruger 22/45 target.

When I opened the box I found out that it included a scope base and was already drilled and tapped. I wasn't ready for that and hadn't even considered a scope. Now that I know I have the option, should I get one? I'm pretty sure it'll make the gun easier to shoot well, but I've never shot nor carried a pistol with a scope. How much more of a PITA is it to carry a scoped pistol? How much easier is it to shoot a scoped pistol well?

Didn't think about that. Think it'll work alright when I'm shining a bright arse head light through it?

Sweet. Lemme know how it works out. With the way I shoot I need all the help I can get. I was smoking my little plinky target thing at 20 yards with it earlier, but I think that'll go to shite in the dark with these sights.

I clicked around for a while and didn't realize that red dots were so popular on handguns.

About 100 rounds I guess.

If I have to quit coon hunting because I can't find bullets yall will see a meltdown like never has been seen in the history of internet.

Have the same gun, put a cheap 25mm BSA dot sight on it. Fun, very accurate, and the zero seems to hold well when the red dot sight is removed and put back on.

Buy a bore snake for it too. Don't want to have to take the fricker apart too much.

+1

I'd personally stick with a reflex red dot as opposed to a tubular to keep weight down but I'm sure either would be good.

I don't clean .22s unless they get wet.
