In the middle of the screen it says- Preparing to configure windows dont turn off your computer.
It has been this way for two hours.
How long can it prepare to configure windows why is it doing it?

Dont do it. Leave it alone. Let it figure it out.
You do, of course, back up every week, right?

1. Restart the computer.
2. Keep pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.

If the issue persists, please move to the next step.

3. Log onto Windows by using the Administrator account or any user account with Administrator privileges.

I am sorry it is windows 8 and I don't have that option as soon as you turn it on it goes straight to the configuring windows screen.

Yes, I noticed that Microsoft, in it's infinite wisdom, has made it so that, by default, you cannot boot into Safe Mode, without first booting windows normally. fricking genius. Because everyone uses Safe Mode just for the fricking hell of it...I've never once tried to enter Safe Mode on anyone's computer when normal mode actually booted.
You know, I fricking hate Apple, but Microsoft is trying desparately to give them the market.

I cant find anyway to get into this computer to even start trying to fix it.
Posted on 2/9/14 at 6:04 pm to bencoleman
I would pull the hard drive and backup your stuff from another computer before going any further.
Posted on 2/9/14 at 6:06 pm to Casty McBoozer

Your initial comments lead me to believe the Windows install is corrupted...There isn't much you can do now unless you have a Windows disc..
