Compared to last year's basketball season, this season every game on average has 3 more foul shots attempted( 21 attempts vs. 24). This also adds into 3 more made free throws a game.(14 free throws made vs. 17) This is a total of 24000 extra points this season. The average free throw percentage is also up per team by 4%.(67% vs.71%) The total number of fouls this season on average is 20 to last years 17. Here is also a LINK in case anyone thought the fouls were unnaturally high last night, from earlier this season.

Tally the difference in fouls called on a team at home vs on the road. LSU is in foul trouble every, single road game. This can't just be a coincidence. The SEC is full over average to below average teams, yet even the one great team in our conference has trouble winning on the road. Arkansas and Alabama are not good teams, yet Florida barely escapes each with razor thin victory.

Didn't they change the rules from last year which would lead to more fouls called? NCAA wants more fundamentals instead of a physical game or some bull shite like that.

Several broadcasts early on the season mentioned something like this.

Overall scoring, which is what the NCAA wanted to get up, is up 17%. Average this year, so far, is 71 ppg, last season 59ppg.

well they wanted more points in the game but no one wants to see those points come from over 50 fouls per game. This is another case of the ncaa retarding it up in the rules committee

Cut the shot clock. 35 seconds is insane, even college women's has a 30 second shot clock.

You would think so... But honestly a website named teamrankings.com keeps pretty much every stat and significant part of basketball and any other game. They keep it in a nice table and all I had to do was copy and paste into excel and find the averages. Got all this done in about 5 minutes.

Way to grow the sport NCAA. Nothing more thrilling than watching 9 guys mill around waiting for a free throw.

Not that they will, but if they called the tournament like that the late games of the first round would start at 4am.

They've mad it unwatchable. I had to make myself sit through the game last night. LSU didn't play well last night, but that was completely dictated by the refs, how can you play defense if you can't get within two feet of the ball without fouling something. That was ridiculous, I'm not a college basketball fan, but I will watch LSU hunt easter eggs if its a competitiin. The way things are going, I won't be watching the lsu basketball team for much longer and that's a shame. An indictment on the ncaa, not the lsu basketball team.
