system?

I was reminded of this, once again, regarding the homosexual issue that is continually brought up in relation to the Sochi games. Why can't many here understand that other cultures don't think like we do and it is not our place to tell them what to believe? Did we really believe that the Iraqis were yearning for freedom? When will we understand that cultures that are far older thn ours don't give a flying fook what we think they should do? Is this a leftover of British imperialism? It seems that most places conquered by the British were pushed down the path to anglicanization and it appears to me that we have folowed this in our endeavors. We seem to misunderstand and misjudge every culture we interact with and especially those we go to war with. What are your thoughts on this?

You are aware that freedom and human rights are not USA-centric notions, right?

We don't really give a frick. We just want governments around the world who support our economic and military interests. There is plenty of history of the US supporting dictators when it suits us.

Because many of them actually do. Not all countries, and not all ideals and systems, but the U.S. has a lot of good things going for it, and other countries do, in fact, and have, in fact, tried to emulate us.

The majority of Iraqis love democracy. They just have more shitheads to frick it up for them than most do

To be fair, the sectarian violence they're experiencing wasnt as prevalent under Saddam. Maybe a dictator is what they need to keep them under control?

I am. I also believe that most world governments do not promote either one.

Many of the Arabs I've met have told me Arab nations are not capable of functioning under democracy. Take a look at the "Arab Spring" and it makes sense.

Your confusing our governments wants and needs, with Americans.

99.99999% of people in America don't give a shite about other countries, they are trying to fight the good fight and survive the rat race of life.

Sure, Americans have opinions on what Democracy should be for others(certainly isn't what he have in the Dems and repubs, now), but they don't really care.

Because we can't conceive of a culture that doesn't love guns, alcohol and Internet porn.

Americans have been told, and consequently think that they are better than anyone. Most were born and raised to be selfish and self-centered, thinking down on others. It's just a fact of life here.

I personally like aspects from other cultures more than some here. Steal in an Arab country, get your hand cut off. Steal here, and you are let out within the hour to go steal something again. I'm more an eye for an eye type guy, where America is rampant with pussies that don't want to hurt someone's feelings. There are reasons that some people hate this country, and frankly, I can agree with some of them.

Some countries just can't survive with a democracy, yet we still push it on them and put our "elected" officials in charge so we will be able to use them for something further down the line

There is the lack of understanding of different cultures that you are referencing, but there is also the perceived injustices and persecutions that take place in various places of the world, including in our own home. Just because a culture is different does not mean that we should just accept behavior that is fundamentally wrong.

What does this mean that we should do? I don't have a fricking clue.
