Is Jay Leno Loyal or Not?

I don't know what to believe. Half of Hollywood says he's loyal and the other half think he's a backstabber.

Don't really care but why was he forced out on top in the first place?
The Letterman stuff was worse than the Conan stuff anyways.

Because Conan O'Brien wanted his shot on The Tonight Show and threatened to go to another network if they didn't give it to him. NBC announced in 2004 that the show would be O'Brien's in 2009 - banking on the assumption that Leno's ratings would not be nearly as high as they were at the time. They were wrong.

he is loyal to people who can help his career - he is not loyal for the sake of being loyal.
The Carson episode made that clear IMO. He was not loyal to Carson (he campaigned for his job when Johnny wanted NBC to ask him to stay) but he was very nice to the NBC executives that he needed to help his career.

Loyal?
Not like Conan was a friend. Jay worked in LA. Conan in NYC. They worked for the same company and the younger guy wanted the older guy's job before the older guy was ready to leave. Can't blame Jay for coming back when they asked.

I don't think either side of the debate has called him loyal. I don't see what him being loyal has to do with anything.

I guess I don't really care one way or the other. Business is business, but that doesn't mean you don't suffer the consequences for how you treat people.
I just think it's weird that for every comedian that bashes Leno, there's a Billy Crystal who comes out and supports him. Leno must be the most divisive guy in Hollywood.

My problem with Leno has never had anything to do with my personal opinion of him. My only problem with him is he stopped being funny when he started hosting the Tonight Show. My knowledge of him before hand was seeing his stand up and really enjoying it. It was night and day to what he was like on the Tonight Show. In the tonight show, he went for the lowest and rawest joke at every opportunity- and at the most innoportune times. He never hesitated to interupt a guest or yank them on a tangent when they had been pretty interesting and on a roll up to that point. Haven't watched in years because just like Dennis Miller-he stopped being funny.

I think that Jay got a bad rap back in 2010. It was not Jay's job to give nor was it Jay's job to take.
NBC were the real bad guys in that debacle.

I see Conan as Luke, Leno as Vader, and Jeff Zucker as the Emperor in this debacle. Zucker was the clear villain and probably the single worst major executive to ever run a major network. NBC is in the world of shite it's in because of this man's decisions, and he should be tarred and feathered.
Conan and Zucker had a rivalry in college and despised each other, and it continued into their professional career. Conan did a subtle but nice musical number at the Emmys on how Zucker has fricked up NBC and should have been tossed for passing up LOST. Its hilarious watching it now. When it comes down to it, yeah I'd piss on Jay Leno if he was on fire, but I wouldn't waste it for the likes of Jeff Zucker.

False.

Letterman would always have him on his show, was a good friend to Leno.
Leno hid in closets during NBC exec meetings and eavesdrop on what they wanted in a new late night host.
