UGA and Alabama, two of the worst offensive teams in the SEC, both put up over 80 on LSU. There has certainly been some questionable calls in this game, but this isn't the first time a team has been able to get to the rim anytime they want to against LSU. It's been a fricking problem all year, and there is clearly no emphasis to fix it. They are poor fundamentally, and compound the issue by playing with no effort on that side of the ball. I think the defensive game plan is literally to hope Mickey can affect every shot at the rim. This team may get a good win here and there when they are motivated, but they aren't going to win many SEC road games with the way they defend.

The refs weren't helping at all

ETA: But yeah, we couldn't defend the paint at all. JOB being out of the game for the vast majority of it really screwed us

It's called "poorly coached".

Take your second best defender and put him on the bench for 30 out of 40 minutes and that will happen. The refs called 22 fouls on LSUs starting five.

Make no mistake about it. There's clearly no emphasis on that side of the ball.

That's because UGA kept attacking the fricking paint. All they had to set was a simple ball screen up top and it was clear sailing to he lane. This isn't the first game that LSU has racked up a shite load of fouls. When you're constantly out of position, you tend to reach to recover

Sorry, should have been more specific and said worst "LSU" defensive team in recent memory. While there were far too many times under Brady and TJ where LSU was just atrocious on offense, they generally answered the bell defensively. Both coaches demanded it, sometimes to their detriment. There is no effort from this group to guard anybody. How do you let a bad offensive team like UGA to score 94 points!! How do you let a bad Alabama team score 82. Those two teams may not score that many the rest of the season

46 FT attempts certainly doesn't help... New rules are a killer sometimes, they were supposed to make this game more enjoyable but it's so much worse when refs don't let anybody play physical at all.

weak fouls and home cooking officiating was the reason

It's all about knowing and adapting to the rules and we can't do it.

it's impossible to adapt when the refs don't call anything with any sort of consistency from week to week.

My deal is this, we can't stop a lay-up if we tried. It makes no sense. Just like the announcer said tonight, "LSU just isn't strong enough defensively to go far in the S.E.C."

Let's take it out on Auburn Saturday. Represent!

Yet, 4 of the top 5 scoring teams in the SEC, (LSU #3), were held at/below their season averages...
