Thanks to all of our Louisiana boys who stayed home and are focused on bringing home a title to the Boot.

And here's a little video to hype everyone up for Wisconsin.

Fournette article
quote:

"It was very hard picking LSU over Alabama," he said. "I could have gone to Alabama, played with the other seven running backs they have, but I wanted to go to a school where I could create our own tradition of winning championships."
-Leonard Fournette

quote:

"I’m just going to trust Coach Cam and the offensive staff at LSU to get great things done offensively," Dupre said. "We’re bringing in a great core with the recruiting class that we put together. I’m just ready to make a push towards a national championship and get to work."
-Malachi Dupre

I loved when Malachi announced yesterday and said he was just looking forward to Wisconsin.

I don't believe it was that close for LF. he has been all LSU for a long, long time. if not for cruthfield, bama would have been out of it.

I must have missed it but what has Malachi done from the leadership area for this class?

LF is all Louisiana. He chose LSU because he wants to rep the state. Was never really worried about him going anywhere else. Especially since he hated the recruiting process.

Cameron gets all the props in the world from me. He single handily got us Dupre. Dupre even said if Cam wasnt at LSU, he wouldnt be going. Smart business decision by Dupre. Not that many schools have an OC that the has been a successful coach in the NFL, and who NFL wants again. And if they do, I doubt that OC would turn down NFL. Cameron did.

And Fournette and Dupre are the headline guys we got, along with Jamal Adams and CG, but we also have a lot of other guys with big plans for the future of the program. Brandon Harris, Quinn, Brumfield, Clapp, Williams, Godchaux, Paris, Clark, Voorhies, Battle, Upchurch, Chark, Valentine, LMFAO, Teuhema, etc, etc.

This 2014 class is loaded with talent. But, best part about it IMO is that its loaded with young men with high character and will put in the work needed. Nobody in this class comes with a cocky attitude or an ego. Not even LF, who has every reason in the world to be. They are all grounded and no shenanigans type of players. They are here to work hard, do the right things, and WIN. This is a special, special class.

looks like in the end, not taking a back last year is what got us Fournette

I agree with this 100%. I'm sure there's some temptation when a program like that comes calling, but I doubt they were ever a serious contender.

Seems pretty tongue in cheek to me... haha

what?

LF wanted to stay home and rep the boot. State pride + Frank Wilson got him here, it's that simple.

It's like you just completely discounted everything about Brandon Harris and Ed Paris. While I am thrilled beyond belief that LF and MD are Tigers, I believe Paris had a big hand in getting Adams here and I wonder if Quinn or Dupre get on board without having a QB with the ability and personality of Harris.

Sorry if I am misreading this.

Seems like it was closer than some want to think with LF

Not to go off topic, but I have a related question....

Does it seem like Bama gets kids to commit early and they are steadfast to the commitment, while we at fighting to hold on to some of the guys we desire?

I ask, cause this is what I notice and it seems like LF just said it right there. Yes he does want to rep the boot, CFW has a very good relationship with him, we didn't have a backlog of backs, but it seems like it was still a possibility that he was going to consider Bama more than some on this board would want to admit.

Bama guys seem to drink the coolaid early and often and I'm really not sure why. Just doesn't sit well with me.

He's just being respectful to little Nicky. What he really meant was "it was very easy picking LSU over Alabama. I grew up in south Louisiana and an LSU fan. Why would I want to go play for the enemy and turn my back on my friends and family and everyone in the state who's supported me personally and athletically my entire life?"

I love LSU as much as anyone but Alabama is Alabama. They are a college football blueblood. I could see how any talented blue chipper would be enticed by playing for them. Especially with their recent success. But keeping guys like Fournette and Dupre are what helps to keep building the LSU brand into more of a national power with each passing year.

I'm basing that on how I would feel if I was in his position. If your heart belongs to your state school and you want to bring championships to your state, (and I'm NOT saying he does'nt),I just can't imagine considering going anywhere else. But, like I said, thats just me.
Having said that, I'm glad as hell he's ours!

To an 18 yo it kind of didn't. These guys were in 5th grade last time LSU won NC.
