Can the OT suggest possible wholesale nurseries that will sell to the general public in the Baton Rouge area? Looking to save a few dollars on the landscape.

Theres a "real" wholesale nursery off Siegen behind Cleggs.

Ya need a lanscape or contractors license to buy tho.

Forgot name, gotta few palms from em years ago, way cheaper than reg nurseries.

Just drive by a new construction site with fresh landscaping. Bring your trailer and pick out what you want. They probably won't notice.

To buy wholesale you need a license from the state. What are you looking to buy? Prices are basically 50-75 percent off retail.

Almost all of the wholesale places will require a contractor's license.

Forest Hill or Franklinton area.

CNI is cheaper than regular cleggs, but a license is needed. Still not close to Forest Hill and such. Usually calling a landscaper ends up being the same price as doing it yourself. They get a discount and their profit comes from that.

I've got quite a list of trees, shrubs and annuals. It won't be cheap.

I thought about this but I've never been there and wasn't sure it was worth the drive. Are there a few nurseries up there that will sell to the general public or just 1 or 2?

You mean a landscaper with their discount would be about the same as me buying retail and installing myself? I can see that. I was hoping for the best of both worlds...I buy wholesale and I get some help from the local orange or blue store to help with the install.

Flaw in your plan, Mexicans aren't that cheap. Especially when they install it wrong and flood your house or require you to go back and fix it. They aren't born knowing how to landscape, most I have met are shitty at it.

Ok, I wouldn't have them do the irrigation but surely they can dig a hole and stick a plant in it? What could go wrong?

(famous last words, I know)

I guess it's worth a shot.

You could go take the test and get your license, shouldn't be that hard for you since you have all this worked out.

You will need a business ID number to buy wholesale by law. But you're in luck b/c you live in LA. You can drive to Forest Hill with cash, not check, in hand and find some backwoods grower that will sell you something.

Bracy's in Amite has nice stuff.
Post your plant list with sizes and qty. I'll see if I can figure how much you could save.

Another issue with wholesale is that you may have to go to several places to get specific plants. They don't all grow the same stuff.

I contacted Bracey's and they said that they could not sell to me. I would have to get one of the local nurseries to buy the plants from them.
