Thinking about planning a golf trip to the Scottsdale area with about 5-8 buddies (27-32 years old). I know there are tons of golf courses, but I was wondering what else there is to do over there. My BIL went there for a Saints game years ago and said he had a good time. It seems like there would be some decent nightlife there with ASU being there and all.

Come in March. You can do golf AND MLB Spring Training.

Old Town Scottsdale is fun as well. Shopping, restaurants, bars, clubs. The nightlife you will want (for your age group) is gonna be in Old Town, not in Tempe. I mean, Tempe can be fun but you will fit in more in Old Town.

Tempe is a decent drive from Scottsdale.
Scottsdale has a few bars/restaurants down from the Fashion Square mall I think it's called. I went in August, bad month for golf, but cheap as shite because it's a 120 degrees.

Yeah and they have golf cart taxis and pedicabs all over the place now so you can easily go from bar to bar if you want now.

When you coming back? This time I hope I find out while you are here and not after the fact

I understand why lizards live in Scottsdale Arizona. Why people do and they call it home I'll never understand.

That sounds more like it. We are going for the golf but we also want to have a good time away from the golf course as well. About half the group is married and the other half single, so I was just curious about the bar scene / ladies there.

I don't know, but cold days like today i'm so jealous I'm not out there. Let you know for sure, J already deep in his Australia trip.

But, exactly, Tempe, too far, better places just as fun probably in Scottsdale Olde Towne.

I'm going hiking later today, while everyone else is complaining about snow. That's why I call it home.

Summers can be brutal but most of the year the weather is awesome, so you put up with the heat (which you can easily escape) to enjoy this time of year.

+1 It gets pretty hectic with everyone out here during that time. Golf will be in the 60-70's if you start in the morning. Catch a spring training game afterwards and then head on down to Old Town Scottsdale with every baseball fan for a fun night out. November through mid-May in Arizona is almost unbeatable weather-wise.

The rest of the year, bye bye snow birds and hello blistering heat/AC!

Relax Half Pint. It's a line out of a Robert Earl Keen song that pops in my head when I see the mention of Scottsdale. The only time I was there I didn't leave the airport, so I can't comment one way or the other..

Definitely take a ride out to Tempe to see the campus and all it offers and grab some lunch/drinks or something one day while you're there. It's probably 20 min or so away from Scottsdale.

If you go for Superbowl weekend you can be around for the Phx Open. Huge PGA tour they do every year around Super Bowl weekend(tour itself lasts like a week). One big party on a golf course basically.

Also in January is the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction every year. Another great time to go for a guys trip. Great weather, can go play golf with the guys and check out amazing cars up close.

I did. And I assumed she didn't name you after the atresses who played Nelly, Mary or Carrie. That only left Laura.

Well actually a few of the actresses had that name.

Mary and Laura shared the same IRL name
