i saw where FSU signed 7 OL and 7 DL yesterday and other schools signed a lot also. looking at our DL this year and our projected OL next year ('15) we look really thin in the two deep.

we need to step it up, esp on OL. I guess that's why stud got canned.

sorry to be negative today. other than the OL, we kicked arse yesterday.

we have a coach who can actually develop O lineman now. recruiting is one thing but you need a coach to help a player reach his potential.

They need players to coach up.

I would have liked to have another OL or two, but oh well. Will load up next year and are already on our way

Don't we have a 4* guard and 5* tackle coming next year that decommitted from Texas yesterday? And their already on a guy from Shreveport, forgot his name but highly rated.

D-Line is just inexperienced. That's all. Danielle Hunter is gonna be huge for us. He and Valentine/Godchaux and Herron maybe.

LSU signed 7 dlinemen last class and 5 this class. We aren't hurting for depth in that side of the ball

It's not time to panic yet, but expect next year's class to have a lot of big uglies.

Team needs change from year to year. They don't sign that many every year. I don't really know what other classes signing have to do with anything.

BUT, I do agree with you for sure. We need to sign a lot of OL in 2015 (specifically OTs) and several DL (specifically DEs).

IMO, our needs in order for 2015 are:

OL (OTs)
DL (DEs)
RB
LB
CB

Again, that is my opinion. We are off to a great start for OL, RB, and CB

8 spots really because we need to get back to rotating them the way we did in 2011. However your point still stands. We stacked.

I think the LSU staff were caught off guard by the late defection of D.Kelly. The staff thought he was in. That was the OT slot we really needed to fill (previously set aside for CamRobManBoobs).

As stated, next year will be a big year of focus -- already is -- for OTs.

As for DL... uh, I'd say we did more than fine yesterday! Remember DE Deondre Clark out of OKC will be "official" either today or tomorrow.

I would guess 6 OL with at least one JUCO kid. But that's my own wild speculation.

I'm not sure where the DL concern comes from. Numbers are fine there.

He was all FSU for a good while. Up until early January, it wasn't really a thought Kelly was coming to LSU

They saw our DLine last year, and instantly think we need to recruit 20. We had a lot of Freshmen, and this year we will know if it will lead to extreme depth, or extreme attrition

That's ridiculous...but whatever

We're not too bad at OL. LT is where we need help. No experience behind La'el. We whiffed this year, but we'll get tackles next year, starting with Maea Teuhema.

Relax GrandDad

We are in good hands with CLM at the helm. He'll address the correct needs next yr. LSU will not have a depth issue, while he is there. With Maea Teuhema committed and with the addition of Grimes, LSU is addressing its 2015 needs.
CLM seems to always upgrade when he has a staffing change.

That and I guess the flawed premise that Florida St hads the exact same needs as us.

If it's Kelly I'm thinking about, he was a UK commit for a while, then LSU was the first of the big players to offer him. He was definitely interested. Everything then a few days ago seemed to point to Florida making a final push. Alas, I guess he was just waiting on F$U to come through in their numbers game.

I'd like to see LSU go grab that JUCO OT before signing period is over.

Another option: Take one of those many DL prospects and convert to OT project. Isn't that what happened with Barksdale?

sucks when your on the other side.

Yes I said our coaches have their work cut out for 2015 recruiting OL. Everyone agreed but you. There is nothing wrong with that statement.

Wouldn't say concerns there. Just would like to sign a stud DE that is all.
