I know the traditions of red beans on Monday and fish on Friday, but why is spaghetti served a lot as the Wednesday lunch special?

Because its cheap to cook and serve. Same as red beans. It's a great story about red beans on Monday so women could so their laundry while they cooked on the stove but truth be told its very cheap to cook red beans and rice.

I've seen this as well. Don't know why though, sorry. I know it's cheap to make, but don't know why Wednesday.

This actually goes back to the 19th century when Italians customarily harvested the first crop of Spaghetti on a Wednesday.

Funny AlaTiger!

Hey, so Monday is RB&R; Wednesday is S&M, and I remember meatloaf having an assigned day. From Cracker Barrel:

Tuesday: Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes
A slice of our homemade Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes with choice of one vegetable.

So maybe fish on Friday. What's on Thursday (Lou? Abbott?).

I'm trying to think this through. I don't think I have ever had spaghetti anywhere other than home. our table or in someone else's kitchen.

Spaghetti was the first dish my wife cooked for me after we got married, maybe a week after I got out of the Army.

Love spaghetti, just not something I would ever select when dining out. We haven't had any in a while though.
