That position doesn't need to score when you have a healthy Ryan, AD, Jrue, Tyreke, Gordon.

Notable SFs "available" next summer

Alan Anderson
Andre Kirilenko
Paul Pierce
Luol Deng
Vince Carter
Shawn Marion
Jordan Hamilton
Chandler Parsons (restricted, yeah right)
Danny Granger
Mike Miller
Lebron James (ETO)
Shane Battier
Caron Butler
Carmelo Anthony (ETO)
Hedo Turkoglu
Rudy Gay (player option)
Richard Jefferson
Marvin Williams
Trevor Ariza

That's the lot we have to choose from unless Dell makes a power play here soon. 3/4s of those guys are old and not what the Pels need. The other quarter are untouchable. It's either gonna happen via trade or with a draft pick for next year landing in our lap from a trade.

You say we don't need another scorer, but I wouldn't mind someone who can shoot the rock at the 3 consistently and defend well. Aminu could be a great bench player instead.

We need a true 5 before we need a true 3

Aminu is a great rotational fit next to the core guys. If they plan on keeping this core, he should stay. He's a small ball 4. Pair him with stretch bigs and go uptempo and he works in a supplemental role.

If I'm running the Pelicans, I move towards small ball. Speed, quickness, length, flexibility, shooting is where the game is heading. frick rigid positions. Davis is a once a generation talent. Unleash him.

Everyday I wonder why Dell didn't do his utmost for an Anderson for Asik+Jones trade. I'm just a lowly college kid and I saw the writing on the wall with Jones that he could be Lamar Odom Redux after one college game and one NBA game. Maybe he did and Jones was just the piece Morey couldn't let go. Or maybe he didn't and that makes me sad. Either way In Demps We Trust, even though that Ryan Anderson injury fricked us, and makes him forever "injury prone"

Black and left handed.. Yup, lamar odom!

AFA is a FA anyways. No reason why you can't have a guy who is decent in both aspects of the game

The Heat are the only team to have one a title playing "small ball" the last 15 years. Jordan and Lebron are the only two guys the past 30+ years to lead small ball (ish) based teams to the finals. That's a bad idea for the Pels, you gotta have a solid front court. Look at the title winning front courts of the past decade
Mavs - Chandler + Dirk + Marion
Lakers - Gasol + Bynum + Artest
Celts - Garnett + Perk + Pierce
Spurs - Duncan + Horry + Oberto
Heat - SHAQ + Haslem + Mourning + Walker
Spurs - Duncan + Horry + Nesterovic
Pistons - Wallace + Wallace + Prince
Spurs - Duncan + Robinson + Rose
Lakers (00-02) - Unstoppable In his Prime SHAQ

More like the shooting stroke. Jones drains it at an above average clip from deep like Odom did. He shoots, runs, passes, moves- just the way he looks out there (eye test alert!) is much akin to Odom. Plays off a dominant center well, in that underneath role.

Idk dude. I don't see Odom in Jones. Lamar Odom had more PG skills in his game. I don't see that their games compare that much.

You should study more.

Dirk is a small ball 4 prototype. Horry is a stretch 4. Oberto/Nesterovic were situational bruisers that would make way for....Horry. You forgot your boy Odom in LA, usually playing crunch time next to Pau with Bynum (17 and 24 mpg in the playoffs in title years) on the bench.

Those are all funky frontcourts featuring stretch bigs designed to pick on slower, bigger players.

Since SSOL, Shaq Miami and Boston are the only title teams that were traditional

.....I can't believe I just described Kevin Garnett as traditional

And for fricks sake, that Mavs team was ridiculously weird. Their 5 was guarding LeBron James and Wade on the perimeter. Marion guarded everyone. Kidd was big enough to check James. Almost everyone could shoot. They were very far from a traditional team

If anything, Anderson/Aminu is a pale, pale imitation of Dirk/Marion

So is ours. That Mavs team is what gives me hope going forward. They were able to pull it out with a roster that wasn't considered formidable.
We just need to get/stay HEALTHY, and go from there.
