my friend who is a single mom with a three year old. She is wanting to find something to make an income at home. I have exhausted many ideas in an effort to help my friend come up with some ideas of things she can do but since nothing has really panned out, I was hoping the brilliant and clever people here on the OT could list a few ideas. My friend is an RN by trade so if that helps with the suggestion process, all the better! Thanks so much my friends for your ideas!

If she's an RN, she should leave her kid at daycare and go to work at a hospital.

There are no promising work from home jobs regardless of what you have heard.

is wrong with you, there's a young child in the house, you can't be having strange men around all the time.

OP, does she have a webcam?

Oh mercy, I knew this was coming quickly along with the request for pics, but damn that was fast. I don't have the liberty to add pics however. Sorry. I do appreciate those of you who left ideas already though...

Well she has looked into a few nursing call type jobs. I guess right now I am casting with a broad net to brainstorm some.

As for working out on a regular nursing job, she does now but really is tired of that type of job. Just her personality, she wants to try to find something different to do than the usual hospital/clinic type job.

My wife works for the state and from home. She processes food stamp applications. She has to go to BR once a week. We have an office set up in one of our extra rooms. It's not OT money ( $20 an hour) but she is loaded with benefits and she gets our grandson off the bus most days, so it really helps

I have done chart audit/reviews from home as a side job because I had lot's of off time as an ER nurse. Each state has an organization that contracts with Medicare to provide reviews to assure that patient care met certain criteria during hospitalizations. These companies contract with RN's to perform audits. Another option is doing workman's comp oversight - I've not had any experience with that but know that the position is there because I've been consulted by them before. Good luck to her..
