@ginojoubertTSW: Malachi Dupre becomes the 22nd player from John Curtis to sign at #LSU. The most of any school.

I think some people dislike him because he doesn't push players to LSU.
He just says something along the lines of "I know there is a lot of in state pressure to stay here, but you don't have to" which is not pushing in either direction.

Not sure why anyone would say that. We got Dupre, one of the two who there was probably even any mutual interest for of the 4.

Exactly. He is very open with this players and helps them with ino on where their interests are and where he thinks they make a great fit.
He doesn't try and steer them one way or another without their best interest in mind.

Not trying to argue the point either way but we have lost quite a few prospects in the last 10 years. JC puts out a lot of talent so it makes sense we have taken lots of them. But JC has been good for an awful long time. Maybe we got them all "in the day" but that is definitely not the case anymore. That said, we still have brought in 1 guy 3 years in a row.

A better reputation would be what % of offered recruits from each school signed with LSU. Curtis should lead all schools because they probably put more players in D1 schools than any other

Young is the first JC kid we haven't gotten since McKnight, right?

Correction, Young is the first player to live in Los Angeles since McKnight.

Don't we have 3 or 4 on the roster now?

My Dad played for JT in the 80s before signing with LSU. Exactly what he tells his guys, take your time and make the right decision for you. Can't fault him on that.

I suspect him getting players into schools around the country also helps his "recruiting" interests, come to Curtis and you can get offers from around the country, and he places ore players in better schools, a much better selling point than being a feeder for LSU or in state LSU back-ups.

No, it's not Monroe, it's that freaking Saban and BAMA that affect recruits there. Monroe and Bastrop love LSU. More than Tech and Northeast. Remember Saban hires West Monroe assistant coaches to come be a BAMA arse't with their best recruits.

I have to admit after seeing those students with the LSU signs that they love them some LSU at John Curtis.
I was wrong. Glad I was.

Curtis has a great HS football SYSTEM, but they do NOT churn out Elite D-1 talent like is alleged. 2 of the guys that went out west today weren't even on LSU's radar, although I really like McGraw. Start after Mike Stonebreaker and look for 5 guys Curtis put out that were elite D-1 guys. Chris Howard, McKnight, Dupre. Who am I missing? There was someone else from the 90s I know, but can't remember who. But that's really it.
ETA: Didn't mean to come across argumentative, just pointing out that, no, Curtis doesn't produce much elite talent. Most players that leave Curtis to go elsewhere received little to no interest from LSU. Kenny Young is an exception, as is McKnight.
Guys like Reggie Dupard and Michael Stonebreaker, even back in the day, didn't go to LSU from there. But neither did any big time elite LA kids, really. They went to Miami, Nebraska, FSU, etc...

Jonathan Wells is likely who you're thing about from the 90s. Went to OSU and played a little in NFL.
