2 people living there.

The bill is $135 for last month, and it says they used 44,000 gallons of water in a month.

It has been checked for leaks... none found. Perhaps it is in the ground between the meter and the house, but 44,000 gallons would make the ground mushy I would think.

Thoughts???

I have a house and a pool and mine is significantly lower than that even in the summer when I'm adding water to the pool regularly.
I wouldn't imagine that water bill should be over $30 normally. I'd venture to think it would be even lower.

A lot of condos divide the usage of the whole unit by the number of units. You could be paying for some other leak?

sure its not 4,400 gallons?

for reference, just me living by myself I use and average of 700gallon/month. my bill is 13-15$ but I am in county so there is no double charge for sewage.

The water bills have gone up over the last couple of months with all the "infrastructure improvements" getting ready to happen.

I'm not sure how much- I live in The Haven and they buy water in bulk, so we don't get a water bill.

ETA: Has it gone up suddenly over the last couple of months?

I had an issue in NOLA when I first moved there. They couldn't find my apartment number in their system, so they just guess which meter was mine. after a few months of having water bills in the 30's and 40's it spiked to over 100 bucks. I called and they had to send out an investigator, took a while, but they had put the wrong meter on my account. Go figure. NOLA S&WB is the worst!!
