Now that my tax stamp finally found it's way back

Picked up my SWR Spectre 2 yesterday. Great looking and sounding can. Disassembled it and by all early views looks to be a quality component.
BTW if you are considering a .22/rimfire can it is IMPERATIVE you get one that disassembles for cleaning. After doing research buying a rimfire can that doesnt disassemble is a huge...HUGE mistake due to the amount of crud that builds up by the much dirtier .22 ammo.

For those wanting to use a can on a factory threaded 10/22 or MP/AR22 you MUST use a thread spacer on this can, as well as some others, due to the depth of threading variance between the barrels and the .400" thread depth of the Spectre. Not using one can cause the barrel to thread too far into the can possibly causing baffle misalignment and loss of accuracy and or baffle strikes.

Now to choose a can for the AR.....AAC SD-N6 looking pretty strong to go between both 5.56 and .300 Blkt guns.

AAC SDN-6

Not sure if you kept up with Shot Show this year but they re-released the 762-SD with a 90 tooth mount this go round, and only $650 msrp. Granted its a bit larger than the SDN but significantly cheaper. Just a heads up.

Sonofabitch!

I am waiting on my $1200 AAC 7.62 sdn to get its stamp back. That shite pisses me off.

How much larger is it? How much heavier? Any quieter?

Guys at the shop didn't mention that.
Spoke about the current model for $850.

That could definitely be a gamechanger

I paid msrp for mine. I wanted to get my stamp started ASAP. Going on 13 months since I sent it to state police.

This guy breaks it down pretty well. Also is holding both so u can see the size difference.

ETA: fwiw sammich, I'm still planning on getting the SDN because they say it's "better" for SBR applications and because it's smaller (looks like about 1-1.5" shorter). Noise reduction difference seems to be fairly negligible, about 2dB in favor of the SDN.

Yeah I've been reading about the SDN being available for around that price these days. Hoping to be able to find one in that ballpark as well. Another factor to consider is timeline. The SD's aren't currently out, but are suppose to be this year. Who knows how difficult it will be to get your hands on one.

I have a sdn-6 waiting at Bowies. I'll watch the video when I get to a computer.

Is the next generation shorter or longer?

Nothing I have read has indicated any design change outside of going from the current 51 tooth mount to a 90 tooth. The SD was replaced back in 2011 or 2012 I believe by the SDN. So technically I guess the one you ordered is the "next generation." The SD was very popular and I think they've caught a lot of shite for discontinuing it so they have re-released it. There is apparently a rare problem that can occur between the interface of the 51 tooth mounts and their cans that results in a bit of wobble. So I guess they went to the 90 tooth to hopefully address the issue.

ETA: to answer your question, your can is about 1.5" shorter, 2 or so dB quieter, and has beefier internals than the one that just got re-released. So weigh those factors against the price difference.

I'm very lucky in that I deal with a LGS, Allen Arms, that is the no. 1 seller of AAC products. Hard to beat their prices on AAC stuff.
That said, would be nice to see some lower prices in the whole suppressor market overall.

I Gotcha. Thank you for the clarification. I am at work and trying to pull all this up on my phone. What you said was exactly what I was hoping that you were going to say. I have heard of a very few issues with the 51 but a lot with the 18. They sell a shim kit for the 51 but hopefully I won't need it.

I have my can serial number at home but I'm bout to call and get it so I can check my status of the stamp.

I heard that people have their stamp coming in 10 weeks if they E file. I'm bout to try and send a SBR and 22 can in.

What's the current wait time? I made my purchase in late August and currently waiting…

Also bought it as an individual and regret not getting a Trust set up.
I think I'm going to just bite the bullet, once the stamp gets here, to just go ahead and get the trust set up and transfer the stamp to it. Especially if me or my brother ever get another class 3 weapon.

I got fricked hard by the state so my situation is different.

I submitted to state. Called month later, pending. Next month, pending. Next month, pending. For 6 months. Finally, month six they said no record of my trust coming across anyone's desk and not in system. Called Mrs Wendy and she said to resend it attention to her and she'd fast track it back to me. I got my state approval the day after you no longer need state approval.

Submitted to ATF on September 1st. Currently pending.

Go ahead and get a trust. You will seriously regret not doing so in the future.

I am far from the best qualified person in this area but I am about to call it a day at work and will answer any questions you may have.

I had zero help or knowledge prior to buying my first suppressor but was able to figure it out and love playing with restricted weapons!

You may have done this but...just a thought.
Get a copy of your stamp, shrink it, and laminate it. Stick it in the pistol grip or somewhere on the gun. May save you a headache with an annoying LEO in the future.

Absolutely. Keep original in safe, copy in gun case, shrunken copy in pistol grip.

Trust is also my last name "xxx Trust". Lots of people get cute and name theirs stupid shite and leos have no idea what to do. Granted, I have never been confronted regarding any of my weapons.

Can you put a suppressor on any firearm?
What exactly is meant by stamp?

Well I guess "any firearm" is way to broad. How about any modern rifle or semi-auto handgun?
