College Baseball Preseason Discussion

This seemed like a good time to start discussing college baseball on the MSB considering that the season starts in less than 2 weeks.
Seems like Fullerton goes into the season as the favorite, unless of course you believe what Baseball America is pushing.
Speaking of BA, there All American Teams
In response to some Ranters (what I believe to be legitimate) complaints about Nola being second team, this is what I had to say:
quote:
More evidence that BA is terrible when it comes to the college game. Thomas Eshelman of Cal State Fullerton doesn't make the team at all with these stats
12-3
1.48 ERA
115.2 IP
19 earned runs
3 BBs
.204 BAA
AND Justin Garza makes 3rd team?
12-0
2.03 ERA
115 IP
26 earned runs
17 BBs
.205 BAA
Any thoughts on Famous Jameis making 3rd team all american?

No University of Louisiana = fail poll.

Cajuns are crashing Omaha this year

I was lazy and just used this composite poll instead of gathering each poll separately. They are ranked as high as 14th if I'm not mistaken, right?

Yeah, 14th in Baseball America's poll.

A question for the Ull fans, they were pretty good last year, but ranked 14th seems a bit high to me. Why are they expecting such a great improvement?

Because they are expecting to not be sent for an automatic elimination in the Baton Rouge Regional.

Supposed ot have upgraded pitching which was our weak spot last year. Another year in the program for everyone else. Only lost Kjerstad from last year.

Probably? the kid hit .235.

Yea, that was an understatement. I think he made it as a utility player, so I guess they're including his pitching stats too.

Wow...so much love for the Beavers...
Highest preseason ranking ever.
Meaning - they won't do squat.
Beavers forte is winning back-to-back titles out of nowhere.
Baseball preseason predictions are far worse than football - and far far worse than basketball.
I look for Oregon to make the big jump and another Pac-12 National Title making it 23 titles in baseball.

ULL #14 ranking is quite high and not deserved. They will be improved over last season performance. They bring back almost all their players. They have the ability to make a SR if sent to the right regional. But 100% guarantee they won't make it to Omaha.

at the state of Oregon. They must really play some ball out there. Isn't Oregon's baseball team only 6 or 7 years old as well?

As a casual college baseball fan and follower (face it, Michigan is football, basketball and hockey territory):
-What's up with USC
-What's up with Stanford?
-What's up with Long Beach State?
-What's up with Univ. of Arizona?
-What's up with Univ. of Texas?
-Isn't Kentucky usually pretty good? TCU as well?

I don't understand how Jeff Hoffman, is a 1st team All-American. Hoffman went 6-7 3.20 84K/39BB last year. Then again unless it is a typo, Brandon Finnegan (0-8) & Kyle Freeland (4-8, with a 4.34 ERA) both are 2nd team all-americans.
