Question about neighborhood violence?

Watching a piece on Leonard Fournette. Talking about growing up in a neighborhood were he was witness to a lot of gun violence and murder. My question is why is there such a spike in murders and gun/gang violence in minority neighborhoods whereas in poor white neighborhoods there is the drugs and violence but not the high murder and gang violence rates.
Yeah it's racist but still an interesting question.

Do you have any stats to back this up at all?

No stats, going off of media perception. Watching pieces on athletes who come from tough neighborhoods, regardless of where they are, if they are minorities there is talk about big problems with murder and gun and gang violence.
Then you hear about poor whites and the common perceptions of meth dealing and prostitution and some assault and battery type incidents but not a lot of murders and gang violence.

Well that's a really smart thing to do.

If you want to fund a study on it I'm game. If the perception exists it's based off of stereotypes. Question is that those stereotypes exist and maybe a better question is why have they formed?

I'm seeing citizens from AP and LP more frequently on the nightly news perp walk. Give it a few more decades and the trailer parks might catch up to the ghettos and barrios. This has nothing to do with race and everything to do with the incentives and disincentives created by our government.

I'm not sure what answer you're expecting, but it sounds like you may already have an idea in mind. Perhaps you should share with the group.

Minority neighborhoods that are low income tend to be more violent and gang influenced than white neighborhoods of similar poverty levels. That's the answer I came up with, just asking for opinions on the why or contrary arguments.
