I've been listening to this channel since it began about a year or so. Since I don't have a ton of friends that watch soccer, and even fewer that watch soccer and have SiriusXM, I wanted to see if anyone else listens and what your opinion is. I assume it isn't all that great compared to more established channels, but it keeps me entertained.

The Football Show - This comes on early in morning for my drive to work. Charlie Stillitano can get full of himself but has some good stories based on close relationships with Jose and SAF. Neil Barnett is a Chelsea homer, but knows the game. Finally, Ray Hudson is very entertaining and will certainly wake you up in the morning.

Men in Blazers - They only come on Monday and Friday from 11-12 CT, but I always make sure to take an early lunch those days. They are incredibly entertaining, and I know I've seen the board rave about them.

Counterattack - This show comes on in the afternoon from 4-6 CT. It's kind of the real reason I started this thread. I cannot stand John Harkes. Between his over pronunciation of every Latin name, to the way he calls himself Harkesy, to his lame attempts at humor, he drives me crazy. It has gotten to the point where I just listen to the show because for some reason the hatred has become enjoyable.

So, I'm not expecting too many responses, but I was just curious if anyone else got their soccer fix through SiriusXM.

I listen in the mornings following a good Liverpool result or around international dates. I listen to Counter Attack on my way home quite a bit. I'm never in my car when MiB is on.

I only listen to this during soccer matches. Too hard to resist Howard Stern 100 IMO.

I had a rental car last week and it was all I listened to. Counter attack was really great, and enjoyed listening to matches more than I thought I would.

Men in blazers is amazing. I listen to the podcast regularly.

On XM it's channel 94. Not sure what it is on Sirius. During the middle of the day they just play Talk Sport, which I assume is a big channel in England.

Just remembered another thing that really irked me with Harkes. It was a week or two ago when Ribery came out and said that he thought he got robbed with the Ballon D'or (Harkes pronounces is ballOOn btw)and that team accomplishments must not matter anymore. They had a French football specialist on and Harkes asked him if he thought there was anything wrong with Ribery's comments. The guy said no and that it was just how Ribery felt. That just wasn't good enough for Harkes. He just repeated the question emphasizing that it must've been sour grapes. It got awkward and the guy just repeated that he didn't see anything wrong with it.

That's what I was looking for. I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me.

It's not. And especially since he got dropped from the 98 team and it finally came out that he slept with Wynalda's wife, well, that kind of sealed the deal on his "douchebagness."

Can anyone tell me about Men In Blazers? What is their format? What do they talk about? I keep hearing great things but I don't make time for podcasts. Maybe I should.

It's kind of hard to explain. They are just really funny and intelligent. They make so many analogies to music and movies with soccer. Honestly, there isn't too much factual backing to anything they talk about. It's just very funny and very entertaining. They are 2 Brits that actually love the USA and openly root for them. Roger Bennet is also a self-loathing Everton fan. He basically starts every sentence with "Davo(who is the other host)...." then drops some funny line.

Roger Bennett is a soccer writer for ESPN and Michael Davies is a tv producer for Fox. Two British guys, Bennett is an Everton fan and Davies is a Chelsea fan, but they both live in the US and so are able to make a lot of cross cultural and cross sport references and jokes. They also cover the us men's national team pretty heavily.

Each podcast is a little over an hour, usually about 45-50 minutes of EPL or USA natl team recap interspersed with jokes or anecdotal tangents, followed by about a 20-30 min interview with a guest. Someone like Rebecca Lowe, Ian Darke, Tim Howard, Rob Stone. Think they had Sunil Gulati and Bob Bradley on recently

MIB are the best thing the channel has going. Great, great show. Podcast even better. I listen to it weekly.

The TalkSport stuff they air during the middle of the day is pretty good. I listen to it during SVP/Russillo commercials sometimes. It's cool to hear the English perspective. The cynical, wacky arse opinions from some of those guys can be entertaining. Stan Colleymore is good.

The Football Show is ok. Ray Hudson makes it a decent listen.

Counter Attack is awful, just awful. Harkes is as bad as everyone else has already pointed out, and worse. I can't imagine anyone being a bigger douchebag than this guy. I actually can't think of one American pundit, tv or radio, that I enjoy listening too. Kyle Martino is probably the least cringe-worthy, but he's pretty bad too.

I actually like when they have Grant Wahl on. He's not a boring sack of air like Tony Miola and he doesn't just talk to hear his own voice like Harkes.

this was the first thing I noticed.

And the few call-ins I heard were so stupid

I'll continue to listen though

It's incredibly annoying. I'm waiting for him to start pronouncing Irish names in a ridiculous leprechaun type accent.
