Just got back from fishing/golfing in Guatemala for 5 days. That place is pretty incredible and remarkably underrated as a fishing and tourism destination. The fishing was pretty meh by their standards (we landed 14 sails in one day and they were pretty bummed). Its also ridiculously cheap down there. I highly recommend the OB check it out.

Oh yeah, and those Whale Wars assholes had their boat parked next to us at the marina.

Amazing golf courses down there too.

You wanna talk about some granola arse smelly hippy women. One of our guys had gotten in the rum on the ride back in. When we pulled into the marina, he was on the bow singing Midnight Rider when he yelled "Hey fellas, lets watch our mouths, the GD tree huggers are still in port!" Even the a-hole on the deck of their (badass) boat cracked a smile.

Same. I'm struggling to decide between there and Costa Rica. Seems like the fishing pressure in Guatemala is less, the opportunities to do other things (and find some hot female companionship) are greater in CR.

Never been to Costa Rica, but I can say that it really did feel like we were the only people sport fishing in the whole damn country. We had what I considered to be pretty high volume fishing, but those guys talk up 40-50 sailfish days.

As for the female companionship, do NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT pay 250 dollars for anything in Guatemala without laying eyes on it first. No wonder the Mayan civilization tapered off. Woof.

I should clarify. I watched 3 buddies fork over a total of 750, and while I chose NOT to partake, you bet your arse I wanted to see what was going to walk through the door. Haven't laughed that hard in years.
